I am from Lucknow, India & I do free range poultry. I feed my birds with sprouted grains and sprouted lentils, and add some turmeric powder to it, so that all grains are evenly coated with a tinge of yellow. It's a tiny amount, but I do so daily. There are no side effects. I also hang some neem leaves around the farm, for birds to nibble on. I don't see any coccidiosis or worm infestation in my birds & they are healthy and active. The layers give nice large 50 to 55 gm eggs with a rich yellow orange yolk. I add papaya leaf meal to their feed as well. Trust me, I haven't used any medicine apart from the essential vaccines, or any diet supplement in last 4 batches.

Great news. I had learnt about mixing the powder in feed. I didn't know about drinking water. We don't have the fresh tumeric here. So we buy the powder. How much must be mix per liter. I mean how many grams per liter or tea spoons.

Thank you for the info im from the USA i will try to find fresh turmeric i do have powdered version of it last year my chicken got upper respiratory infection and my Jamaican friend told me garlic fresher the better i grow garlic and it really worked kicked the respiratory infection butt i just wish hemp wasnt looked down upon ik its legal to grow hemp in my state but honestly i don't want police showing at my door and thinking its cannabis hemp has so many health properties for chickens and people
