You should do a Ripmo AF review with the build that’s on sale with the Bomber Z1 coil fork. Waiting patiently for my SLX build. Was apprehensive about the coil fork but after doing some research I think I’ll love it. Keep up the good work. You’re my go to when buying a new bike. This is the exact model I bought a month ago. I had apprehension about the weight of the fork. I can happily admit I was completely wrong. The only time the bike feels heavy is when I pick it up. I also feel for you as you sorta squirm and describe how much you enjoy the Ripley without putting the Yeti down. Great videos. Your reviews are top notch. In your opinion for south Florida trails, very little downhill action, would you recommend the Ripley or the Trail 429. Looking to upgrade for the “winter” riding season.
@mtbyumyum
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Eash, tough choice... Personally, I would go or the Ripley... it's slightly more easy going, feels lighter weight under you and not as harsh as the T429... that's not to say the Pivot is overly harsh or the Ibis is too soft.. it's just that if you're not going to be descending at higher speeds the Ripley will feel more forgiving and easier to ride. Hope that helps. Also, Salt Cycles (801-943-8502) is both an Ibis and Pivot dealer... although I would point you toward the Ripley!

I wanted to get the ripley at my lbs, but they didn’t have my size. Then there was the Pivot 429 trail enduro with Shimano xt/ xtr trying to get my attention like a puppy at the animal shelter. Took that bike out on the trail with my buddy on his Mojo HD, boy was I glad I bought that bike. Jumping from my 16 year Santa Cruz Superlight to the pivot, I felt every single detail of the bike’s performance. 29er wheels are freaking awesome no. No need to pick the line.

Spot Mayhem 130 vs the Ibis Ripley. PLEASE. what do you think of the leaf spring on the mayhem?
Rascal, Ripmo, or SB130? Which would you say is the most playful of the 3 bikes? Which makes a normal trail the most fun? Jumps on small trail features well, easy to throw around and maneuver. I already have a transition Spur, and an evil Wreckoning. I am from SLC and hit a lot of the same trails you ride. Would love to know what you’d recommend. I am not trying to set PRs on the uphill and downhill- just trying to maximize the fun. I’m 6’3 and about 210lbs - not sure if that would make a difference in your recommendation.

How poppy is the Ripmo compared to the 130LR? I feel like the SB130LR likes staying on the ground when compared to the my SB140, which is much easier to get in the air (at least for me). Appreciate your response.
@mtbyumyum
Жыл бұрын
Personally, I would never buy a demo or rental bike from a shop… same thing with skis. In all likelihood, that bike has seen more miles, use, abuse and more hours ridden then you’ll put on it in the first 2 years of ownership. Hard pass for me. Suspension will likely be clapped out and there is nothing like those first 60 hours of smooth operating suspension!! Save up or buy an alloy bike… Ripmo AF, Ripley AF or Giant Trance come to mind. Good luck!

I'm 5'9". Just bought a new Stumpjumper Evo in size-L. 5'9" is the between size. The medium felt too small and the large felt too big. However, I think it is a mistake to need a longer stem and have to push the seat back to get a proper fit on a size medium. Much smarter to install a shorter stem and push the seat forward on a size large. On the medium, I felt I was sitting on top of the bike. On the large, I felt I was sitting in the bike. The longer wheelbase size large will descend better and be more stable. The shorter wheelbase size medium will perform better in tight turns. There isn't a right or wrong. It's just what feel and performance you want the bike to have. For me, it was the longer bike. I like that "in the bike" feel and I prefer the more stable bike. My bike shop traded the stock stem for a shorter stem at no charge and adjusted the saddle forward for a perfect fit. After multiple rides. I'm happy with my choice.

Funny. I went from a Ripmo, to a Firebird, back to a Ripmo 😆😂 I liked the FB but was a little between sizes… Small was close and Medium was too big…

@@mtbyumyum I am 5ft 9 with shoes on, and I always ride Medium bikes.Small changes make the difference... I went with a 40mm stem from 45 and may even try a 35, as well as with 35 bars and the cockpit was way more comfortable. Of course nothing changed as far as wheelbase is concerned,but still, the bike is awesome! I really like the beefy frame tubes that inspire confidence for frame rigidity and is my one and only bike for any trail.
ibis bikes always sound so rattly and noisy
This really isn't ok for 10-year olds dude

I see what you're saying. Thanks for your concern. Ryan is a very capable rider. I would never put him in a situation I didn't think he would be able to ride... He also rides dirt bikes at a very high level... you would be shocked to see this kid riding his YZ65 with a top speed of 60 mph...
Just make sure to not make idols of these things. They are only bicycles but the Lord is everlasting! 👍🙋☺️

Such an unnecessary and burdensome comment that even has the Lord's eyes rolling. Make sure you do the same for all earthly matters that bring you joy, of course.

I am so hung up between a new Ripmo V2s or a pivot Firebird. I’m 245 lb rider and I absolutely love that cushy feeling on longer travel bike. I rode an SB150 for a few years and really liked it for the most part. I love chunky descents, drops, jumps. For a big guy I can send it. So I almost feel a need for that deep travel feel. But on the flip side, because I’m big. I also need a bike that climbs well. That feels playful on less robust trails. Im hung up on the Firebird looks. I love them. But I know looks aren’t what matter. Lol Just not sure what to do. 🫠

My buddy Tyler who you see in a lot of my videos always recommends the Ripmo to people but…. For the past 2 seasons he’s been on a Firebird😆😂 the Firebird climbs well and feels deep and plush but not as nimble as the ripmo. Call Chris at Salt Cycle and see what sort of deal he can cook up for you!!
Nice. What bike is your son riding?
