We've had 4 Land Rovers in a little under 20years, only one had an issue that required towing (suspension). More problems are symptomatic of more features which the off road capabilities were often responsible for

4 Land Rovers in 20 years. That an average of 5 years and was kept a little over warranty (4 years or 50,000 miles). If you had two Land Rovers in 20 years with little to no problems then you would contradict that they are, as Scotty says it, endless money pits as they age.

@@chucktownfinest Two were traded in, one was murdered (t boned) the 4th is currently still doing fine at 175,000k and is 10yrs old (2013 LR4). The t bone occurred at ~107,000 (2007 LR3), the trade in on another was around 170,000 (2005 LR3, rear ended on that one at one point too), don't recall the 2001 discovery trade in mileage. Checkups are pricier and so is gas, but it's not an endless money pit. Every other brand car we've owned in that same time period has had to be towed due to some sort of catastrophic failure or a problem that prevented it from driving properly. (Mini, Alfa, Honda (some user error on that one), Kia, Jaguar, and Hyundai, 2005 LR3 suspension issue one time) For everyone of those land Rovers, they were daily drivers, used for cross country trips, used for heavy off-roading, and put through the runner. They're good to you if you're good to them.

Buying a Range Rover is like buying a repair service subscription fee

It's really a shame that reliability is so weak with Range Rovers. They're such elegant and enjoyable suvs.

Used to work for a major extended service contract company. They stopped covering anything by Land Rover because they were guaranteed to lose a ton of money no matter how much they charged for the contract. Just would have too many issues every single year the owner had one.

It's just that the newer range rovers and land rovers are still under warranty but the rest of the range rovers that arent under warranty have been a nightmare for the owners. So true about maintenance issues because we were highway n ours stopped in between the the gear box went inside so you can't do anything.. in the end we got it towed and company was to replace it under warranty.. the whole car

I hear the dif can often go and once it does it’s basically them getting to pick a number out of thin air and putting it on an invoice My friend was going to buy one, but his brother worked in the repairs department at the manufacturer My friend took it to him on a test drive and he basically said for the 12k the guy wanted it would cost between 15-20k to fix it by the time it was all said and done

My boy, while leasing, had to pay $3,500 because the SOS function kept calling the police on its own. They couldn’t pay me to take one of these things off of the lot.

Learned this the hard way when our Range Rover’s engine knocked after 3 years right when the warranty ended. We followed all maintenance requirements, paid a lot of money for it just for them to say we have to pay them another $20k to get the engine replaced in the end. It doesn’t matter how well you maintain it, it will break.

@@jennywinter3025 Why would a Honda or Toyota be considered beat up? Those two will get you to and from for years. Name another automaker in their category.

My dentist told me a long time ago that you need to have deep pockets to own a Range Rover. I knew he had it, he just didn’t like giving it up. Unnecessarily that is.

Having sold these for 2 years, people who can truly afford them don’t worry about the maintenance, they trade them in right before the warranty is up like clockwork.

@@keyboarddancers7751 to be honest they don’t. If you look up used ones, you can get one that’s 4 years old for 50k despite new ones being over 100
