    on 4K 60fps is pretty much the holy grail. You have the choice, resolution or FPS. 240 fps @1080p, 144 fps @ 1440p or 60 fps @ 2160p seems to roughly be the max you're ever going to get at current time. Hell, 2080TI can't consistently deliver these framerates in some games, so most likely your refreshing is limited by your GPU. For example, 2080TI in newest Assassins Creed, 203 fps @1080, 109 @ 1440 and 53 @ 2160. Just because the screen can process more doesn't mean the GPU is sufficient to push it all. But yeah, a 60 hertz 1080p display is kind of a waste.

    @@RocketDragons Yeah there are reasons - smaller files, faster processing. I know that The Hobbit had a 48fps version that a lot of people didn't like, but I wish more movies had that option. "This image looks a little weird for the first few minutes because I'm not used to it" is a lot better than having to stop looking at the screen during an epic action scene because the low fps zooms and pans combined with fast movement make you sick. And I've had to do that plenty of times.

    As long, as you actually have a gaming rig, which goes to 120+ FPS in your games, it would be a good idea, to get a better monitor then. You want to display the power your rig gives you, if you don't you'd also waste money on your rig also.

    Can totally agree to this. I spent $1000+ on a PC build but i was still using a 24inch monitor (60hz, 5ms and VA panel type I think) I decided to spend on a new 27” 1440p resolution 144hz 1ms IPS panel with 131% sRGB monitor and it’s life changing. I can’t believe I just decided to buy a new one just now. I had to spend a little more because I want great colors and IPS for my design work but it’s worth it!

    I have a cheap 1080p monitor and the ghosting is pretty bad. Another issue with it is that it's not very sharp. Just because a panel has X resolution doesn't mean it's going to be just as sharp as higher-grade monitors. I'm planning on replacing my video card soon, and my monitor will be the very next upgrade I do, to a decent-quality 1440p display (because I don't want my GTX 960 trying to push a 1440p display!).

  • @GoldSrc_

    @GoldSrc_

    5 жыл бұрын

    The concept of sharpness does not exist on PC monitors, even a very old 1024x768 LCD monitor can be as sharp as a 4K monitor. Ghosting sure, it can be horrible on some monitors, but sharpness is never a problem on monitors using digital signals, worry about sharpness if you're using an old CRT monitor or you are using VGA as your source of signal where phase and clock do matter and make the picture look blurry.

  • @xponen

    if digital output is blurry it could also mean you've turned on GPU scaling. This feature is for displaying virtual resolution only, there's no need to enable this.

  • @xponen

    @xponen

    if videos look blurry, same thing is happening; you have to make sure it's NOT the scaler is to blame, because ALL video player do scaling as well. Some renderer like MadVR did give you option to change this.

    Thanks for the vid. I'm about to install a dual monitor setup, with my main LG 27"(144hz 1ms all the good stuff), and a lesser Viewsonic 24" (75hz IPS panel). I'm never, not multitasking...something I did not predict when i put together my recent rig. It's perfect, other than the fact that I hate tabbing over to chat, to having to play in full screen window to avoid refocus issues on certain games. I read that a second panel usually only ups the power draw for the gpu by 10-15%,which should be fine with my RTX 3060. However, It's happened plenty of times where real world experience differs from the crayon drawing theories. Looking forward to delivery, setting up the deskspace now :D love new tech! ...love old new tech also, it's all good ^^
