The 1876 bottle *could* be a souvenir from the 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. I've seen some pretty cool pressed and etched souvenir glass from that era.

Yes!! Reminds me of those personalized ruby flash etched glass pieces that were souvenir pieces for like worlds fairs or various locations, or commemorative pieces for anniversaries and such. Most of what I’ve seen is like 1890s to early 1900s though, so something from the 1870s is really fantastic!! I would have been SO excited!!!

The sweet grass baskets are from Charleston SC. Only the Gullah people who can date themselves to slavery are allowed to have a license to harvest the grass, therefore these people are allowed to make and sell these baskets. There are baskets into the thousands of dollars and are in art and history museums. There are contest annually and these sweet grass weavings are no longer in the area of crafts, but true works of art. If you are ever in Charleston, don't be tempted to cut the grass as it's a large fine with oftentimes a jail sentence. The sea oats are also off limits, in fact, stay out of the dunes period. Lose your beachball in there, go buy another one or wait for the wind to blow it back to you.

@@Gardengirlie04 I've seen many. I'm from Georgia and the Tidewater areas of GA and SC are a favorite location for me. These are the Gullah in SC and the Geechee in GA. Both are a mix of African, the Bahamas, White and even some Native American. The Broadway musical, "Porgy and Bess", uses the dialect with the Black actors. The culture runs deep with a mix of Christianity and Voodoo. Both white and black magic are performed by the Boo Hag. Minerva in the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" was one. If you go, more than anything else, go for the food. Low country boil, shrimp and grits and a vinegar based BBQ are beyond good.
