My wife's American friend, believed, years ago that Regan, was the best President. He looked a great sport. Nowadays we believe Trump trumps the lot. We love Diamond and Silk giving Pres Trump the praise he's due. We love the man ! Trump 2020! God bless America. In God we trust !!!!!

They wanted Frank Sinatra to perform he said he would only if they allowed Don to do a bit. Later in life Don said this was the highlight of his career and it was because of Frank.

For a guy that made a living insulting and berating people, Rickles was a true gentleman and had a kind heart. So much talent that he could book this gig and not make any preparations whatsoever- just go out there and wing it. There will never be another like him.

The best part for me is that Don was a lifelong Democrat, but could still give a classy, yet biting routine about Reagan. These days, none of these so called comedians, especially the losers on SNL could have the backbone to perform in front of and still be classy in front of a politician they don’t always agree with, and this goes back to Will Farrell and Bush. To them, it’s just about how stupid they can make the other side look while they do what they can to make their side look hip.

He'd talk about how Sinatra stood up for him when the ones planning the event said no, with Sinatra saying "If you don't have Rickles, you don't have me". Sinatra was still prominent enough in the 80s that it held serious weight.

During his appearance on Charlie Rose, Rickles said that of all the performances he ever did, the Reagan inaugural was the highlight of his career. Frank Sinatra got him the gig. At first they didn't want him but Frank said, "if you don't take Rickles, you don't get me." Rickles did a lot of gigs with Sinatra but Frank would never let him open for him. Frank always put Rickles on the bill as his co-star. Sinatra and Rickles together. Equal billing.

Mike Robbins Rickles was quick but he wasn't improvisational. At least he wasn't when he was doing his act. He has thousands of bits on file in his computer brain and he pulls them out and fits them together in an infinite number of combinations For example, his classic, "if you're a (fill in the blank) I'm a Mau Mau fighter pilot!" It works brilliantly because the last four words have lots of hard syllables. He can spit them out from between his teeth. It takes timing to the nanosecond. Only the greats have that kind of timing. Bill Cosby had exquisite timing. Like an atomic clock on steroids. Everything you see Rickles doing here has been done a thousand times. The same thing, but slightly different each time. Genius.

Rickles would always try to offend as many people as possible, everyone knew it was a roast when he walked into the room. He always ended the night by saying Thank You and God Bless. Master of the craft

America that I knew had real laughs, genuine, and people with big hearts!!! Good o times...and I miss it.

What I really love about Don Rickles in most of his roasts is that at first he insults his "victims" as much as he can... mops the floor with them, but then at the very end he gives them a blessing or figuratively speaking 'gives them a cookie' and wishes them all well 😂 what a wise man. Bless his soul. RIP

I used to love watching the Dean Martin roasts were televised. So much fun. My dad was a very serious person and worked 3 jobs. Hardly had time to laugh. But those roasts would make him laugh so hard, he'd hold his stomach. It was great. Rickles was 99% of the time one of the toasters. It just wasn't the same when he wasn't a presenter. It's so sad that ppl are so uptight these days and can't wait to accuse someone of an ism. Those years of comedy were priceless and you didn't have to drop the F-bomb to get laughs.

One of the greatest comedians of all time!!!! Back when jokes were just jokes. And never ment to hurt anybody. 🙂

The contrast of Rickles and Rodney Dangerfield is he talked about everybody ,Dangerfield only talked about himself and both were comic geniuses

This was typical of Don Rickles he would make fun of you to no end. Then display his class and sincerely wish you the best. He was class integrity and humour all in one.

Unlike today's comedians who seem full of hate, one always got the impression that if you got roasted by Don Rickles it's because he actually liked you. People saw it as an honor to be the butt of his jokes.

I love that he keeps speaking directly to the musical conductor who looks completely aloof.

This is a fantastic bit from Rickles the entire way through and the incredibly classy ending...quaint. Bring this era back.

@@PeeboTyson Sadly that was rare in the entertainment industry back then. Sure you had some African Americans in the industry but it only seemed they were only there as a curiosity. Don Rickles is a great example though he was no racist and does talk about it. However, some of his content is questionable, which the audience happily laughs at, even though it was funny.

Listening to him bust on Emmanuel lewis and ronald reagan was hilarious and still is

Rickles was rough but never below the belt. It was never personal with him, just comedy. He could make you laugh at your own failures and weaknesses better than anyone else but way always a professional and a gentleman.

It's like back in the day when you had to sneak and listen to old records when everyone is a sleep.

The only comedian ever that people would come up to him and say please insult me, and it was an honor! He truly had a big heart in the most hilarious way.

This is amazing....imagine performing a gig in front of the President and millions and not a hint of stage fright. There will never be another like Don....he is the greatest comedian in history...period.

And Nobody went around saying " cancel Don Rickles". I loved his insulting jokes. No profanity and yet so funny. What a perfect ending to his piece. What Democrats now say, May God Bless you. The Lord hear his prayer Ronald Reagan served 8 years. 😇✝️🙏🏼🇺🇸💪

Classic comedy. What I liked about Rickles is that despite the jokes, he always got serious at the end of the monologue and wished the person of honour great health and happiness.

I love how he was a Democrat and everyone got along... I’m a Republican and I loved every second

Mr. Rickles would have had his career ruined on at least 10 occasions if he was alive and active today. Reason #234 that the 1980s were MILES better than the 2010s and 2020s ever have been. Our world has gone insane.

Back when everyone had a sense of humor. I was fortunate to see Don Rickles live at the Stardust in Vegas, What a fun show.

Sinatra was in charge of entertainment so he called Rickles. White House said no. Frank said ... "no Don ... then no me." That is power.

This year I was 8 years old. Now I am 48. They were beautiful days. There was no mobile phone or the Internet. Life was simple and social. I did not know much English, but the message got through.

Don Rickles died on April 6th 2017. He was 90 years old

never before, and never since a class act don rickles is a god tier comic :)
