Don Braden with Freddie Hubbard in Warsaw 1991 - Bolivia
Ойын-сауық
This performance of Cedar Walton's "Bolivia" is from Don Braden's last gig with Freddie Hubbard, after a 2-1/2 year stint. It was performed in Warsaw, Poland in October of 1991, and features Jeff Chambers on bass, Ralph Penland on drums, Ronnie Matthews on piano, Don on tenor sax, and the Master, Freddie Hubbard on trumpet.
Jeff, Ralph and Don had been on tour with Freddie regularly over the previous 2-1/2 years. Ronnie joined the band on that tour.
The entire set was released by Bellaphon/Sound Service on a DVD and a couple of different CDs, entitled "Freddie Hubbard Live at Warsaw Jazz Jamboree". They can be found at various online retailers, including Amazon.com.

Freddie has been an inspiration all my life.
I taught with Ronnie Mathews at De Witt Clinton High School.
I really dig the drummer playing the melody at 11:00.

Dig the drummer period. Really swung it. The periodic solos were nice instead of one big bash out.
First heard this version on a compilation 20 years ago and learned to sing most of the solos just from repetition - it's amazing to finally see the video now. Everything in this performance rules, and the drum solo is a masterpiece! It's like an essay on how to create and develop a solo...then bringing the band back in with the melody....off the chain.
Don ,great solo, great inventiveness and development ,listen to whole tune twice! Thanks

KKKKKKKKKKKK thranky you
Live jazz at its absolute best..which is why many, myself included, urge people to get out and see performances. Of course it has been shut down, but is slowly returning.
It's an excellent performance and one worth owning.
Freddie is awe inspiring; a dynamo on the trumpet !!!
that was fantastic !!!
This is musical art of the finest kind and Freddie's contribution makes it perfect.
Freddie is very cool. And you support it very well!!!
What a performance by the entire band. I totally love Don Braden's tenor playing. I saw Freddie Hubbard in Toronto in the late 70s. Wow, what a band!
Love this great recording by Freddie......just outstanding! The rest of the band is on fire as well. Thanks for sharing this masterpiece! ;-)

Damn, Penland is absolutely killing it all the way through and the dumbass cameraman missed most of it! This is one of the finest drum performances in history. In my top ten list since I heard it in the 90's but I never saw a video 'til now. Absolutely stunning!
