Don Bluth Films as Dragon's Lair Games

Фильм және анимация

I just discovered as I was finishing this that Don Bluth is trying to turn Dragon's Lair into a full movie! Go check it out, he needs your support! www.indiegogo.com/projects/dr...
I wanted to share my love for these films in my own unusual way. I grew up playing Dragon's Lair so much when I was younger, and the similarities with the films and their style was a perfect match for this kind of video. I started this back in February shortly after finally rewatching The Land Before Time after 15+ years. What a masterpiece. All of these films were a big part of my childhood.
I don't even know how many dozens of hours I've put into this. Such simple looking effects, but they were very time consuming. I did my best to make everything fit the older film style.
Hope you enjoy it!

While “All Dogs Go to Heaven” which shares similar tropes with Hans Christian Andersen’s the Little Mermaid, lost to Disney’s butchered version of the same fairytale.

@@robbiewalker2831 Ariels apology to Triton was originally going to be longer, but due to Jeffrey Katzenberg wanting a larger climax, the apology was sadly rushed. Also Hans Christian Andersen story's are very hard work well in Film format.

This video seriously needs more views. I love Don Bluth's animation. It's so unique. He revolutionized animation. The only reason Disney animation got put on the map was cause of him. Seeing as how he use to work for him. I personally liked his movies better than Disney. Part of my childhood lies within most of these movies. Though I did watch a lot of the older Disney flicks. I stopped right after A Goofy Movie. The quality of Disney films seemed to dwindle after that. Still nothing tops Don Bluth.

Very good. Some things I notice about Don Bluth: 1) He loves a chase scene turned in to high art. 2) He loves his hero and villains to be encumbered by a charming or psychotically focussed childlike sense of playful clumsiness. 3) He loves to scare in a way that can make The Black Cauldron seem like The Flintstones. 4) Nobody seems to animate better puddles. 5) Possibly nobody animates better fire. 6) He brings a bit of a psychedelic flair that few seem to do well. 7) Dragon's Lair is gorgeous.

This is a great idea and amazing execution, right down the death scenes and life system! These would be so hard to play!

Don Bluth seems to have a fondness for demonic imagery. It's in a lot of his movies, though never more obviously than in All Dogs Go to Heaven.

This is just priceless! And oddly satisfying. My only complaint is that An American Tail and The Secret Of NIMH are underrepresented here. You should do the Disney Dark Age (1970-1988) movies next! Also including Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Oh neat! I'd always thought it'd be fun to make a video of Land Before Time as a Dragon's Lair clone. Had no idea someone had done it. And the exact scenes I'd been thinking of, too. It's got all the perfect little details, too, like the yellow flashing and sound effects, the negative sounds for spamming inputs early, the cuts to black before a death scene plays, this is great.

It was great that you included the joystick beeping noises, but then adding the wrong beeping noise took things to the next level and an even more believable experience to watching someone play these scenes as an actual laserdisc game! Kudos! Oh and Awesome job adding the glowing hints!
