Domino’s vs. Pizza Hut Cook-Off with Nick DiGiovanni and Nicole Russell | Pizza Wars
Ойын-сауық
Pizza Hut and Domino's are two titans of the fast food pizza game. But how do you make some of their most iconic menu items at home? On the latest installment of Pizza Wars, host Nicole Russell faces off against former MasterChef contestant Nick DiGiovanni to see who can make the best fast food-inspired slice. Will Nicole's Pizza Hut Supreme pizza be enough to beat out Nick's classic Domino's-style cheese pie? The decision is up to pizza experts Frank Pinello and Josephine Giordano.

I hate both a lot. My first job was with Domino’s, in 1986. I know the ingredients CAN make decent pizza, but the corporation never does. The garlic painted crust is DTOLEN from Hungry Howie’s. They have been doing flavored crust for generations, while Domino’s literally stole it from another company I am only grateful that you did not list papa john’s: it is truly vile.
@dirtporcelain

They're both awful. Little Caesars (plus their owner paid Rosa Parks rent until she passed)is a bit better. Papa Johns put sugar in their racist sauce and they're expensive for shit pizza. Honestly would take a Totino's party pizza over all of them. Why pay $20 for shit cold pizza with delivery fees and a tip when you could buy 18 Totinos for that price and at least it's hot.

I had Pizza Hut in Malta in 2007 when deployed on the USS Kearsarge LHD3. It was not your usual Pizza Hut. One of the best pizzas ever in a restaurant. In 2005 i tried Pizza Toy and Pizza Jung in S. Korea. They have the same Pizza Hut logo but they use their family name on it. Corn is the normal topping and it is semi sweet. One dude asked for a pie with no corn and ended up getting a pie with extra corn. Pizza Hut/Taco Bell or something like that in trucks stops serve the small pizzas and they are nothing like i remember in the 90's when Book It was the trend.
Quite the pizza showdown. Thanks for having me :)

Not giving hate as Nicole's pizza looked delicious, but is it a win if your pizza was "closest" to the franchise pizza you were trying to imitate? I think Nick should take solace in knowing that his pizza tasted too good to be considered a "domino's knock-off."

That was an old ass training video. I was working at the Hut when they transitioned from making dough from scratch in a big dough roller and fluffing it out by hand to using frozen dough discs. Big difference and not a good difference. Fast food pizza is basically frozen pizza. I always liked mall pizza made in the big brick oven. 🍻
Putting WAY too many toppings on that Pizza Hut pizza. That was three times the Pepperoni you'd see on a Supreme pizza.

Pizza Hut doesn't taste like a fresh home made pizza because they are a large business with an optimized supply chain. In franchise food, there is a balance to strike between making something edible and making something that is shipping stable. It is a very difficult balance to strike and I don't think any large chain does it perfectly. I think of all the chains, Papa John's is closest to ideal from the customer experience standpoint. They've really pared down the preservatives and it tastes relatively fresh.
As a person that have had both ALOT. Nick was the closest to the recipe. These judges should have had more experience with both pizza places to judge these pizza. I think they were only going with what they actually liked and not by what the showdown was pointing too

“Best food pizzas: Domino’s and Pizza hut” I can’t trust this man
I think it would had been a better idea to have judges from different regions like Chicago pizza is different than New York
So actually Nicole was making a Super Supreme from Pizza Hut, as a former Pizza Hut cook, the supreme pizza was: dough > sauce > bottom cheese > pepperoni > sausage > green peppers > onions > mushrooms > top cheese > oven
Gratz on the Win Nicole you made me as a Pizza Hut lover proud. Here's hoping Pizza Hut also thinks so

It's got to be difficult to replicate fast food without improving on it. When Frank commented on the buttery tasting crust of Nicole's pizza, I immediately related to Pizza Hut. I haven't had a fast food pizza in years, but that is one thing I always remember about Pizza Hut...the buttery tasting crust.
I loved this episode!!
Honestly, I would've went with the spinach and feta pizza from domino's, that shit is bomb.
That was a comparison I wasn't expecting. Good episode.
Yooo when the TimTheTatMan song started playing when Nick took the pizza out of the oven. That is a mood right there!
Generally speaking here in the UK, Dominos do better deliveries than Pizza Hut, but when you dine-in at Pizza Hut it's better than a Dominos. For whatever reason, Pizza Hut just doesn't travel as good as Dominos. Pizza Hut deliveries always disappoint but their dine-in experience is delicious. So if I were to order a pizza tonight I would get a Dominos (although a lot of people here prefer Papa John's for some reason), but Pizza Hut do wicked buffets every Sundays that I highly recommend peeps try out. They constantly bake fresh pizza and it's affordable.

As an ex Donatos employee, I can say that’s why you should never order veggies on your pizza. They don’t dehydrate their veggies. They like them to take fresh, but that taste tends to take over the pizza and make the pizza watery and soggy after it starts to cool down.
She complimented the “out pizza the hut” as if it wasn’t their slogan on tv…
I really hope that they tackle what I would consider the hardest version of pizza, dessert pizza. I have not had one that has been fully satisfying but there seems to be a large potential for improvement
I love this show
As a recovering Dominos pizza delivery driver, the cheese isn’t frozen and cubed enough to be Dominos
When that guy said that pizza had the most toppings he's ever seen, I was like "Dude, it's not even close. You have to try high end Australian Pizza"
Somehow I feel hungry and full all at the same time. Those look amazing!!
I love this show so much 😄

He said I think you've done your research better than I did... "fennel?" I have never eaten that brand of pizza, and thought "sure does taste like rye bread."
Best judges ever, they couldn't be more New York. 🍕
Got this recommended after I just ate some bomb ass pizza
"Frank we gotta save room!" hahh I would be doing the same thing
what was the time and temperature combination in the baking oven ? Could you please share.
In the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie VHS, Pizza Hut had an iconic Little League Baseball commercial "I play in right field, way out where the dandelions grow..." Then somehow Domino's got the most epic Pizza product placement with the actor who played Michelangelo delivering a Pizza to Michelangelo in the sewer. "122 and 8..where the hell is 122 and an 8??" "You're standing on it dude!" One bite, everybody knows the rules 🍕🐢
Imagine dominos watching this and being super happy
I frickin love this show
What song is that? The one that played after Nick put his pizza in the oven
Bruh I love the judges' accents, especially the lady's
i used to eat domino's pizza a lot when i was younger and we are talking 30 years ago. when you were smoking a few fatties and drinking some beers it was easy to pick up the phone and call them ;D but in those days domino's was not bad. was not pizza parlor quality but still better than frozen. had tried pizza hut back then and i thought it was nasty but pizzahut went through some changes awhile back and maybe they are better now. but in those days not even having the munchies would get me to eat pizzahut garbage...
For a while I thought Nick was a member of Good Charlotte. Both pizzas look amazing.
The judge on the right literally sounds like she inhaled a ton of helium or she has mafia bosses as parents.
My god these two are both soooooo good at making pizza.
I miss Frank's show that he had with Vice, ya know, when Vice actually did interesting stuff.
There used to be both places in my hometown. Pizza Hut left in the mid 1990s. Domino's left in the early 2000s. The other big pizza chain, Papa Gino's, left in 2019. There are nearly a dozen pizzerias in my hometown and none of them are a big chain place.

If you live in the Northeast (you name-dropped Papa Gino's, a staple of my Boston upbringing), there's just about guaranteed to be a great local pizza joint somewhere, you don't need a chain. Unless it's a Greek food place, their pizzas are uniformly terrible.

@@SimuLord There are nearly a dozen pizzerias in my town. My preferred does Greek style (cooked in a shallow pan), as do many of the others. My fave pizza topping is Linguica (a portuguese sausage) Afaik, none in my town do Bar style. For that, I'd have to get a ride over to Town Spa.

This is completely a hustle! I almost feel bad for both of them because I assume this is not their idea?!?
I'd honestly say that they both Failed Completely. And while that sounds like a harsh Statement to make, it's really not... Because while they did use Similar Methods and Ingredients as the Domino's & PizzaHut Pizzas... What they ended up with, seems like something I could eat everyday and would HAPPILY pay Top Dollar for. It looks AMAZING!!! It's made by Skilled Hands with Fresh Ingredients, and it's made with the Love for Culinary Arts. It's just not the Soggy, Rubbery, Half-assed, stuff that mostly, roughly resembles what a Pizza is supposed to look like. Which is begrudgingly made by some Pubescent, Pimple Covered, Teenager who just got out of School and was forced to "find a Job or get out of the house" by their Parents. A pizza made by someone who you can tell really doesn't give a single, slight d*mn about your Satisfaction and purposely shows it in his Pizzas... *THAT'S* what a *REAL* Fast Food Pizza is like to Eat...
