Her second pass was a true thing of beauty.... God I miss real gymnasts like her.

I will always be a child of the 90s.

She was one of the best. So powerful! today's gymnast don't take risk like the Magnificent 7 did. They play it too safe especially when mounting the beam.

I think some moves allowed then are now banned because of the injuries incurred by many who have attempted them.

Simone Biles does the most difficult and dangerous moves of any generation. I mean they have downgraded her moves to discourage other gymasts they are that dangerous

she has her signature moves since she was little which makes her so wonderful .

These were better gymnastics than what we have today .

Yeah, that's why she came so close to medalling in the AA at Atlanta- the deepest AA field ever. She was excellent on bars, strong on beam and decent on vault. Being inconsistent does not mean she's a crap gymnast. Many of the most talented never got the medals they should have gotten by virtue of their talent. What about Karpenko and Huilan as all-arounders? Awful? Yang Bo as a beam worker?

She's such a beautiful gymnast. Love her!

She’s not only an Awesome gymnast, she’s also beautiful, with such a beautiful shape. I know her husband must have seen her many times, before she knew him. And now she and her husband has some gorgeous kids. And I hope mothers are standing in line, to enroll their little ones in Dominique’s Gym. I know the official name!!

I added up her difficulty based on what I remember of that code. With connections and all I came up with a 9.8 start value, but I could be wrong.

Umm no you're confused! She may not have been a good dancer BUT she was a great gymnast....I mean there's no tumbling on bars and she definitely was powerhouse on those.

Different code of points but I'm guessing a 9.9 or 10 back then.

Basically a simpler version of the same routine she did in 1991 before the growth spurt. You can tell it was a lot harder for her afterwards. She’s incredible though. Talking about this one kzread.info/dash/bejne/eHyEx8udh6jHkbg.html

Requirements got bigger but floor and vault were the two events where Dawes struggles the most to bring her difficulty up to where she was before in the shirt amount of time she had to prep for 2000. I think only her bars were valued at a 10.0; she just didn’t have time to get to her double layout/2.5 full/punch front level.

@@onetwocue She was 23 here, with injuries, and had probably taken a break after the 96 Olympics. Cut her some slack.

She only trained six months for the 2000 olympics! Not enough time to get her routines difficulty level to where they could have been. It's a shame because at her best she could have been right up there with Amanar and Khorkina.

She was Poetry in Motion, And was Cheated, Because, "The power that Be" Wanted Shannon Miller to be Top Dog. She was Better Than Shannon Miller, But Didn't Get The Credit She Deserved.

I don't agree! Shannon was the world champion in 1993 and 1994 when Dominique fell on vault in both competitions! In Atlanta she stepped out of bounds on floor in all around. She was not cheated. She was a good gymnast, but made some big mistakes in major international competitions.

I'm not confused!!! Anyone can swing around a bar but she could stick a vault hallf the time or stay on the balance beam without falling. Therefore she could not have been a GREAT gymnast

😂 SHE WOULD KILL ANYONE with ANY CODE OF POINTS WITHOUT A PERFECT 10!!! Her VAULT BLIND LANDING and a HALF twist MORE than Most of the WORLD.....SIMONE STILL DOES her BEAM DISMOUNT😂😂😂 its Called "BEING AHEAD OF UR TIME!!!"
