    Great video. I do think you're underestimating the value of Iron Warriors though. Against high prot, the difference between a 20 dmg axe and a 25 dmg maul is huge. Against Barkskin Lava Warriors for a basic example, the axe will deal ~1 damage per hit and the maul ~4 dmg. With Strength of Giants, it's 3 vs 8 dmg. Even with twice the attacks, that's less damage, and will trigger fire shield twice too. Iron Warriors aren't a mainline troop, they are a specialist, but their area of specialization is important and reasonably common. The steel warriors are basically an improved version that you can specialize further, and IMO are a quality sacred and enjoy a bless, just not one you build the nation around.

    Sharpness point buffs and earth shatter hammers are both confounding factors in this consideration. Overall the slashing stuff is better, but to your point you don't have weapons of sharpness before turn 15 in most cases and there might be something you need to bonk before you do. IMO a big problem for a significant % of Ulm's roster is that indy archers hitting them in the chest is odds-on to deal damage, and nations can drum up a lot of those if they want. I don't think it's worth building a bless for steel warriors but they're definitely worth recruiting just to point buff strength/sharpness/quickness and a tiny bless and butcher things unless you have an obviously better point buff candidate.

    iron warriors are rather helpful for dealing with shit like terracotta and golems and could even help against monoliths in the early game

    100 / 4 = 25 / 2 = 12.5 / 4 = 3.125 so 3 in 100 e3 or random2 on smiths and shaman. Yeah can't count on those odds, nice when it happens but can't really strategise on it.

    It's not common agreed and I'm glad you did the math. Like you can't just stop at const 3 knowing you'll random and early e3 to forge a hammer often need to go 5 for earth boots. But we are getting hundreds of these mages over the course of the game I'm turn 25 in my current Ulm game I'm producing 1 mage a turn from 2 forts and then half a mage a turn from 6 lab temple combos. For a total of 5 mages a turn and have probably made around 50 mages over the course of the game so far. I would argue this is pretty common so you're more likely than not to have E3s in mid game not to mention if you're making your cap only you have slightly better than 1 in 4 odds of getting an e3. Overall I have 4 e3 mages 2 from cap and 2 from lower mages randoms. As for the other randoms fire is still likely because both shaman and Smiths can random it but I agree air water death and nature randoms are uncommon and can't be counted on but will probably happen just don't plan around it because they can come to late.

    Steel Warriors are definitely not a sacred to carry your nation or anything, yeah, but they also don't need much of a bless (with point buffing) to pose a serious threat to high-prot elites, giant thugs, smacking down prot-regen awake expanders etc even in quite small numbers, so they definitely do have an important specialist role in your army vs certain types of enemies, offensively or defensively. I like to have my bless for EA Ulm include fire resistance and magic weapons, making them good counters to fire elementals which really mulch your basic troops, as well as your only source of recruitable magic attacks.

    Not a bad plan at all deinitly is cheap. I Usually planto thung into eles with Great swords of sharpness but that is alot more rescource investment. So I think throwing a cheap bless on your sacreds can be very good.

    I feel the way to use curse of stones is with swarm or skeletons while the enemy is getting severe heat or cold penalties.

    Great video, very thorough and makes me feel like I can play with only a single test game under my belt. You kept mentioning arm guards and do you mean bracers of protection for our basic thug equipment?

    Great sword of sharpness sorry lol. It's a standard thug equipment because it gives 4 attack and defense. Glad you like it.

    Ulms default scale is cold 1 and you can throw 1 temp scale pretty freely so we want to decide between cold 2 and cold 0. The reason I went with cold 0 is because cold 4 and 5 pop kill your nation and I believed cold 2 would go to cold 4 in the dead of winter. I have since been informed that that has changed between dom 5 and 6 so cold 2 wont become cold 4 and is safe. You are correct in cold 2 being better so we can use our national traits.
