Dominions 5 Basic Nation Analysis - EA C'tis

Ойындар

EA C'tis is a fairly straightforward nation, but by no means a simplistic one. As C'tis you have access to a grab-bag of powerful techniques; strong, relatively cheap Death mages with useful crosspaths, highly effective communion slaves, solid multi-attack troops, and easy low-consequence deployment of some of the most damaging spells in the game. With a solid early, middle, and late-game plan more or less baked into the nation, C'tis is a strong contender with a lot of options as the game progresses - albeit one with a serious weakness to cold weather.

    If there's one thing special about the Neteret of Many Names it's that she's basically a titan rainbow chasis since her new path cost is only 20 compared to the usual 60 for titans.

    Big EA C'tis weakness that didnt get mentioned: no national scouts! If you are unfortuante enough to not find any indie ones, youll be at a big info disadvantage in the mid and lategame. Sure you can summon black servants, but thats 5 death gems you wont invest in any of the good stuff and its substituting for something thats just 25 gold.

    @@whitefox25 the problem with getting werewolves or black servants for scouting is the opportunity cost of the gems used in higher average skill dominion games youll have 10+ scouts running around at any one time, if you need to spent gems for that instead of the 250 gold + upkeep on the scouts an equal amount of black servants/werewolves would cost you 50 D gems or 120 Nature obviously neither is doable, so you are left to hope, you get a province with recruitable scouts or make do with what limited information you do have

    Fun fact: EA Ctis sauromancers are the cheapest D3+%D in the game, by a wide margin. The next cheapest is the LA Ctis sauromancer, that costs 285. Those two are also the only two req anywhere with such path, ignoring summons.

    I would not recommend a E4 D4 Devourer of Souls. With only 19 protection is too weak to be an effective exepander from turn 1, as it would need buff spells in order to take anything but the weakest independent provinces, and even with buff spells it could not really handle barbarians, bone tribe, heavy cav, etc. It would also be very vulnerable to be lost in bumps with other nations (exactly what happened to C'tis in my current game, when he bumped with me. I was Pan and only lost 3 white centaurs to his Devourer of Souls before they killed it) To expand effectively with a Devourer of Souls you really need E6 and hard skin (for 26 prot), and even then you should be careful with heavy cav and barbarians in large numbers. Hard skin is also great for all your summoned sacreds, as they will all have decent (or even great) protection with it (toad 11, Serpent 12 and croc 19!) It is even fairly good on your serpent dancers should you ever find reason to make those, and it makes your priests and sacred mages somewhat arrow resistant. Also, C'tis can be vulnerable to be rushed very early by strong bless nations, if it happens before they have horde of skeletons and lots of sauromancers (again what happened in my game, seeing that he was weak without his pretender i just rolled over him with very little resistance)

    Mixing in Snake Dancers is not half bad against elves. Magic attack deals with glamour fairly well, and the poison will be lethal to any stupid elf that takes a scratch. At 19 gold a pop, mixed into the frontline they can deter elves quite well. The poison also makes them effective against certain types of thugs. 12 attack, 15 damage is enough to scratch thugs relying on high armor (mostly early ironskin thugs), and the poison will then do it's thing. They can kill melqarts and stuff like that very cost effectively. Particularly if mixed into PD. What they can't do is kill normal troops effectively. Ulm would eat them for breakfast with his cheap troops; but if they send a thug smith with a light kit, that they can kill. Definitely not your typical "expanding is ez mode sacred", but they have some niche uses. Taking a bless for them is definitely wasted too. But they work okay out-of-the-box for some situations.

    Hey General Confusion. I have a bit of an off topic question. I was watching what I believe was your first Multi Player game "once more into the breach my friend" and I noticed that at some point one of your opponents had the Vampire Lord Commanders. I believe it was EA Berytos. How do you recruit those, I have searched and searched on the web, and all I can see is that LA Ulm is the only one that can create vampires with Sanguine Heritage. Is there something I am missing? Cheers

    Vampire Lords are summoned by a high level Blood spell - you need Blood7 research and a B4D3 mage, if I'm remembering those numbers right off the top of my head.

    I was and still am so very interested in Dominions because of the mythological ideas and the quite creative take on fantasy that strays from the elves, dwarves, orcs and some more formula. I lost interest to play (and in part to watch) because the game's only focus is war. The nations don't differ aside from magic and units. I would have wanted to build my nation and make it unique aside from some labs, forts and temples. Also it is hella micro intensive and searching through al these schools and paths and item options is much more than I can I can and am willing to reasonably learn from a game.

  • @Sorrac0001

    @Sorrac0001

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@bingxilao9086 I've only played them in single player; that said undead armies with rigor mortis, darkness, and shadow blast are pretty strong. You can get good undead mages early on by using twiceborn on Sauromancers, and Sauromancers in a communion can boost their priest levels to cast Royal Protection and Power of the Reborn King, for extra magic resistance, combat speed, and attack on undead units. Communions are a bit tricky though since you don't have the shaman anymore. Using ritual of rebirth, you can bring back prophetized lizard kings and have multiple H4 commanders running around - you just have to make sure they become heroes before they die. While I haven't had much success with it, I think that Sauromancers could make good thugs with the right equipment - they have access to self bless, invulnerability, soul vortex, fire shield, phoenix pyre... You can natively craft shademail haubergeons to make your mages stealthy, and skulls of fire which make it a lot easier to boost fire magic. Late game, you can cast King of Banefire by making a skull of fire, giving it to a F2 Sauromancer to summon a flame spirit, transfering it to the flame spirit so it can make a flame helmet, then giving both boosters back to the Sauromancer. This gives you a very good SC who can use phoenix pyre and soul vortex to stay alive, and who benefits from all the undead interactions. Since reborns are your main researchers, you'll have an army of mages that can cast disintegrate by the time you hit Alt8, which can be fun. :D Edit: So I went back and did some testing with LA Ctis in debug mode, it turns out you can make good thugs with Sauromancers but you need to turn them into Wights first using twiceborn. Critically, this boosts their HP from 10 to 23, and it gets rid of the old age penalties. It also gets rid of cold blooded and gives them poor amphibian, so you can use them in places you wouldn't normally be able to. They can reanimate in the field, which might be useful for picking up bodyguards every now and then. I found the E1 variety works best, just give them a weapon and script Invulnerability/Ironskin, Soul Vortex, Temper Flesh and they'll be able to clear most indie provinces. The nation can natively make Fire Brands, Vine Shields, and Implementor Axes, which are all great for this purpose. For a bless, I'd probably stack undying, and/or go for shock and fire resistances.
