He ran most the fight 😂 ran the last round because he had too guy was out of gas and bleeding at the end. Besides the first round he is on the back foot. Reyes has 13 more strikes over 5 rounds. Jon threw 166vs Reyes 259 After this fight the damage to Reyes leg is clear, Reyes bleeding at the end and was out stuck in both the championship rounds. He fought a smart fight but he didn’t do enough for a win

Bro you're a knucklehead if you think Reyes won that fight, smh. Obviously we all wish for the underdog to be the winner but Reyes looked like his plan was to try to survive the fight with Jon, whom walked him down from the start with no fear and countered most of Reyes' hits. Halfway through the fight Reyes looked like hell while Jon seemed ready to start the fight over. Name recognition has nothing to do with the win but all to do with wanting him to lose.

Dominick was much more active but when it comes to strikes landed overall he had only a small edge. The take downs won Jon a couple of rounds he probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise. It's BS but not enough to be a robbery

True I think it was also because of his advancing and takedowns that gave him a slight edge. Domimick Reyes outstruck him in the first 3 rounds but Jon advanced more and attempted takedowns which is also considered a criteria for judges. Islam vs Volk is a good example. Islam is getting pummeled but still won because of the overall ground control despite not doing much. UFC's judging critera 🤷‍♂️

Can’t beat the champ on hopes and dreams, it has to be definite meaning there can’t be any questions if it’s even the champ will always edge it out

Jones getting dropped by a cross by Reyes has got to be one of the only times we will ever see that happening at LHW. At HW well that's another story... The highlights does reflect Dom's dominate performance. Although the full fight will show where Jones did the most damage. Honestly Reyes should have split decision won this fight.

Not by a large margin of sig. strikes landed vs absorbed yet he seemed to be more aggressive which I initially thought Jones would be based on his reign at LHW. Jon's dq elbow with Hamill should be overturned but this was an L. Jones won because he was a favorite. Most thought Jon would KO Dom and Reyes gave him his most competitive fight. It makes you wonder how Jones would do currently at LHW if Jiri weren't injured and got to fight Jon. I wish I could see them both fight while healthy. Here's the fight to make at HW. Pavlovich vs Jones I don't think Jones and Conor should get to jump the ranks despite ppv. It still pisses me off how Dana does this to ranked fighters grinding it out for years for that contender spot.. If you're a decent fighter but not marketable this shouldn't matter. Rankings > PPV

I think back then people judged this fight by how much Reyes hit jones, but they just didn't see jones hit Reyes because they hadn't seen a close fight with Jones before. Reality is Jones did more damage and judges saw that.

There is an obvious unwritten rule in the UFC. In order to take the belt from the champ. You have to win derisively. You cant win 3-2 and go to the scorecards and expect to strip the belt from a guy like Jon. Just not gonna happen. Especially when you only upped him by 1 round.

Jones is a great fighter, but this shows that he can be had.

Jones was surprised in the initial rounds but then got the distance and started pressuring towards the end. Reyes was running away to get the decision because he ran out of weapons Jones didn't already know how to avoid.

@@jordancosby91 I'm not a Reyes fan by all means, in fact I prefer JJ (the dude isnt perfect, good thing i'm not perfect either, we can't all be perfect like Ngannou or Khabib).....but no, this has been debated many times with professional referees here in France........nobody agrees with a JJ victory in this fight. And it's pretty obvious that Reyes perfectly knows what happened and kinda lost all motivation for the sport. I hope he retires soon btw, he lost his flame and there is no chance he will get it back, showing also that he was lacking something to become the best. A champion should stay strong even after being robbed of a victory, like Fury did when they called a draw on his 1st fight vs Wilder.

If you want to beat Jones you need to put him to sleep or submit

People who think it is a robbery, should count the takedowns as well. Jones had 2 takedowns while Reyes had 0. None of us know how many points judges give for takedowns so it may or may not be a robbery. Chances were 50-50 percent.

Based on this video Reyes fought the better fight imo🤷🏾‍♂️ he was a problem for Jones. Sat him down early, was unpredictable, landed big shots, went the distance. I feel like he won this fight. Nah. You need to do more than just do enough to beat the champ. Izzy explained it perfectly. Witthaker also claimed he did enough. You don’t do enough to take the belt. You either take it or you don’t. Jones had less landed shots, but more significant and more damaged ones. He also blocked many of Reyes shots while a lot of people always thought Reyes clipped him. He didn’t. Jones blocked many many shots

@@memoo183 it’s an unwritten fact based on how judges score. Afterwards people or the contender who lost, say they did enough. Again. You don’t do enough. You perform and are better than the champ, then you deserve the belt. That’s the way you judge a fight in MMA, besides the fact that, obviously you look at landed shots, kicks, takedowns and so on objectively. But the champ has to be beaten. A close one will always go to the champ, and imo it’s appropriate to do it like that. So yes, i can argue like that
