Technical death metal that isn't just technical for technicalities' sake! Such soul put into the sound. Simply phenomenal.

Can't understand people who likes braindrill and such... Yeah cool, you play 1 terabyte of notes in one nanosecond... So what? It sounds like shit. But what makes BC is... Just pure art.

Why Do u PEOPLE Associate Music with DEATH??
@pipino1313
3 жыл бұрын
well, depends on the band actually
Dominic is basically introducing Lead Bass to death metal here, love how the song is much more centered on his melody and doesn't gets put in the backburner buried in the mix like most other bass players, kudos indeed.

That's because he looks up to one of all time best jazz bassist Jaco Pastorius. He talks about how many bassist don't do melodies. I've been listening to a lot jazz man so I can get influence hopefully turn out something like Forest haha.

Dominic is a beast of a bassist, but to say that he introduced lead bass to death metal is to ignore the work of others that preceded him, like Steve Digiorgio.
@dimitriid
9 жыл бұрын
Digiorgio is a superb player don't get me wrong. But he rarely gets to have the spotlight to himself, he gets to play a bit of a lead on some songs but never the entire band following his melodies which is what I meant. Other than that I was thinking of Sean Malone as well but his involvement in Cynic is not as prominent (Cynic is all about Masvidal's leads) and Gordian Knot is prog.
i miss the old description "Dominic forest lapointe bass porn"
Beyond Creation is one of those bands where every member just blows me away with their musicianship.

BrianLikesMetal666 Well it is important to mention, that you just cannot afford playing this in every band or a metal style. Good thing about technical death metal is that everyone might express himself. When you seek Mudvayne, it is a band that fits Ryan Martinie's inspiring percussive bass playing style. But he couldn't play this in metalcore bands for example, not even 75% of the technical shit he did in Mudvayne's L.D. 50. Christopher Schneider does 10% of his skills in Rammstein. It just fits the band. So what am I trying to say, you can only barely guess how is someone good, because not everyone can do ,,lead" stuff. Anyway, It is shame that only harsh vocals fit tech death metal. I'm not able to share it with other people... music is brilliant, but they can't get over the vocals. And to be honest, I'm not into those vocals too, but I can get over it as long as there is an audible bass :D

Ijen Ayen your very right about different bands only pertaining to a certain area of a musicians skill, but I wanted to add even if a person is using 10% of the skill they posses(and could hypothetical ly wipe the floor if they used the other 90%), you'd still be able to tell they posses that amount of musicianship by how/what they are playing within that 10%.

Death Metal I think they are more interesting than Dream Theater on the technical side of thing. Fretless bass, tapping, every instrument sing ... In Dream Theater, in some albums the bass is a boring square while Jordan and John rip like there is no tomorrow and then everyone become almost radio friendly so James can sing ...
I have never heard a more interesting bass player. Truly one of the greatest.

Steve's a classic but I'm sorry he couldn't play this they have way different styles-hell dominic is influenced by digeorgio too but in my opinion hes taking the bass to another bar here it's actually not fair to try judging either as they both fkn shred it's just different techniques but this track is insane

@@nmac3718 this. Same goes for Schuldiner. A classic, a master from many took influence. But can't compared with, for example, Luc Lemay. The level of composition and musical level overall Luc has, its way beyond the skills of Chuck

The best bass metal player of the world
Dominic applies his love of jazz into his playing. I think he has one of the most original styles in modern metal; it reeks of taste and is very refreshing.
I've listened to this song literally a hundred of times. Maybe one of the best Songs ever created

There's so much emotion in this bass-playing, it really inspired me to play bass in a death metal band! I definitely connected more with his lines than the new bassist.
Whatever band he joins, they would have found one of the rarest gem musicians.
The bass in this band is better than the bass in most metal bands. Very impressive when a bass does half the leads.
shouldnt the bass be a little louder in a playthrough mix?

And the camera should also focus more on his hands. It changes the angle way to much and makes it very hard to follow and play it by yourself.

La Pointe inspired me to play fretless bass. I started playing fretless because of him and because of Thesseling from Obscura. if Forest gonna ever read this comment I wanna say THANK YOU to you! Finally I learnt this song on Bass :D (it's on my profile) it took a while but it's one of my fav songs ever and i adore playing it. Thank u for creating such a masterpiece !!!!!!
So beautiful, the music, the bass itself, the instrument... This is just the best I've ever heard out of every genre...

I could sit and watch this dude for hours.
My goodness this is some tasteful metal. Over the years I've been leaning towards jazz and classical just to find some phrasing that interest but this.. this is good. This is real good!
Beyond Creation gives my positive chills on every track, everything just fits so well and amazingly constructed
2:31 The first time i ever heard this song... i didn't expect those drums.
4:09 onwards, simply amazing
This is the single most beautiful composition I have ever heard
Dominic show me something i search many years... the next step in music expression and feeling, is the harmony in the chaos... i learn from him something have no name and i see that guy like my brother...
Breath-takingly fantastic. Beyond Creation blows me away and this guy... Incredible.
Masterpiece indeed
Abosolutly mindblowing
Who the fuck dislike this ? This guy is a bassgod
My god... You are are a true inspiration dominic! Your playing sound like heaven, you got so much melody and "classical music parts" like mozart and other ones... Absolutely the best bass player on earth ❤ greetings🙏
Plus beau solo de bass ever !!!
This is just the most beautiful thing I watched/listened in a long time. The day I will reach that level of technique is still a dream to my eyes, and I'm not event talking about the ability to create basslines like that.
The best version ever!!!
The song is so strong, it has a lot of emotion, really beautiful!
Amazing song , amazing performance !
Happy 40th birthday Dom!
foda o baixo dessa música, venerarei SEMPRE 💙
I will never forget meeting and talking with Forest in Edmonton last year at the Harvesting Hell Fest. Very down to earth guy, and very knowledgeable.

Amazing playing as always

he makes it look so effortless... OMG, giant fan
Dominic, You are the best!!
EPIC....
Bravissimo!
Best part starts from 4:22, the "mwah" of the fretless love it
Just beautiful enough said
this band is beyond anything... ✌
Sad this guy left but I've heard nothing but good things about the new guy! Excited to see what he brings to the band.
These line basses is a delightfull!!!
This dude has me playing around on a fretless bass and loving it.
Un des meilleures bassist a mon avis..ce gars la a un talent alucinant jme tannerer jamais de le regarder jouer
I could watch this dude play bass for hours. So freakin awesome. I think more tecdeath bands should use frettless bass.
this is simply a masterpiece. OMG
Entertaining watch, thanks for the upload.
everything I've seen forest play live or on video has wowed me the fkn guy has a sick style and approach to music we had Steve digeorgio with death etc now forest in modern metal 2 of the fretless kings
outstanding!
Totally awesome.
Dude....saw them back in 2019 w/obscura, infei, ne oblivscaris, and a few others. Was a fantastic show. Got to talk with the drumer from BC....absolutely killer show (obscura singer was not at gig so all other bands sat in for them for vox). Was a highlight for me since Ne Obli was there... Dude, u got some sick chops!
The truly amazing thing here is the sinergy between pure brutality ans pure melody
The description is spot on! \m/
Dude is insanely talented.....
Je suis Trop fans de votre musique!j'espere vous voir un jour dans un live
That is amazing
Impressive play 😨 ... and excellent song 🙂👌
perfect touch !!!!
Goosebumps.
Guh, I have tears. This is food for the soul..
long live to beyond creation!! lml
great music
Goddamnit. It’s so fucking heavy.
Finally! I was waiting to see somone who plays this song on bass... But wasn't expecting to see Lapointe himself doing it :D
Magnifico
Master!!! O melhor!!!!
el mejor bajista que escuche, una tormenta de tecnicas
Excellent musicianship and a great song, sadly a rare combo.
that last bit.... mental
Don't leave xc this guy has literally been my inspiration
I wish i had seen Beyond Creation with Dominic as a bassist!! =)
Thanks for visit my city Guadalajara México..🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
That’s... so beauty....
What I love about the bass tone is that it has a lot of heavyness and presence without having clank or distortion. This is actually realy hard to have a massive basse without clank in metal
A true master
Nice work
legendary
Mr. Lapointe is a god among men in the realm of bassists, and what makes him more impressive is the fretless bass he uses. His replacement Hugo is equally talented but his showmanship has required improvement as they tour, and on the most recent video theatrical delirium he really shows that he can keep up with the insane pace Forest set when he wrote the bass track of this album, but he still uses a bass with frets, removing just a bit of what makes original Forest playthroughs like this so mind-blowing..

Hugo has used a fretless bass since he joined bc. Check out the video for Inversion. He uses a lined fretless from kiesel
I'd been hoping you'd do this one.
Perfect.
I'm a drummer, but i could listen to this bass line all day id like to hear it without anything else in the mix- ive met dominic with augury and we(kronosfear) opened for quo vadis before the guys a fkn machine and very reserved.Total pro
OMG! Did I get any on me? LOL! Pretty strong there, brother.
Really exquisite and modern playing. Even though i dont like very much fretless sound, but it's just taste.
excellent
great 👌👌👌
The best you could have Beyond Creation In the bass. Lo mejor que pudo tener Beyond Creation en el bajo.
