It's a shame that arm wrestling hasn't become much bigger in North America. Brzenk should be a household name. He is idolized by the greatest pullers and very well known in Eastern countries . A very telling scene in the documentary "Pulling John" is when Voevoda said he never heard of Travis Bagent but Brzenk was his hero.

John is a phenomena that happens once in a century. He is strong, skilled, respectful and like a deity he reigns supreme for a long time. He has wrestled evey kind of arm wrestler in the book. From every region. But even after achieving all that consistent domination, just the humbleness he has. What a great guy. An inspiration. I have injured my tendons by wrestling lot of guys and being irresponsible with the injury and it Hurts but it was worth it. I felt that surge. It is exhilarating experience. Love it. If you want to get someone interested in arm wrestling, show them the 2009 Brzenk-Cyplenkov match. It looked like someone's dad snuck on stage and crushed the incredible hulk. That match will immediate dispel the idea that the sport is for the biggest and strongest guys.

@@ArgStyleRlz doesn’t matter, John wasn’t even in his prime when he easily beat Denis in 2008 tournament and 2009 vendetta supermatch. In 2010 when John lost to Denis, it was the worst he has perform in his whole arm wrestling career. He didn’t just lose to Denis, but rustam, pushkar, arsen, etc who he was just beating easily ONE YEAR PRIOR. And let’s stop with this cringe BS that Denis was a rookie. Yes he wasn’t in his prime but not a rookie. Here can you grasp this with your brain. Denis first RECORD TOURNAMENT/Supermatches were in 2006 and 2005 losing against Ivan, and that’s just what we know from sources. Perhaps Denis has been arm wrestling competitively before and he has mention he arm wrestle when he was younger. He IS also much bigger than John, he is also younger and has a legit elite background in powerlifting and strongman while John got nothing on that lol. Now WHERE are your excuses.

  • @ArgStyleRlz

@@alexramirez9501 well as far as i know Denis competitive career in AW started in 2008, i have no info about international supermatches prior to that date, if you have extra info/links please provide them. As for strongman/powerlifting background, i think we have more than enough proof that it doesn't really help you against a seasoned armwrestler as we all could see when Devon armwrestled Thor many times in training seasons. As for rookie or not, Denis kept competing in strongman events up untill 2007, so we can agree in the fact he was not taking armwrestling seriously till that point. So yes, for me he was a rookie when he faced John in 2008/9.

It’s a combination of things. John was born to armwrestle (big hands, strong tendons, etc.), and also grew up with an armwrestler for a father, so he was exposed to the sport at a young age. With how young the sport was, he quickly became one of the best overall (overall over that period of time he was #1, but there were guys in certain time periods who were better than him) and the undisputed best in his weight class, and eventually armwrestled for so long that once the sport did make advancements and more freaks like Denis, Pushkar, Zoloev, Babayev, and Dave arrives, he was still able to dominate in the 2000s and be very high level in 2010s.

I believe one factor that is overlooked is that he broke his arm at the age of 13 while armwrestling. So at that time in life when boys have testosterone poisoning and growth factor pouring out their ears, John Brzenk fractured his bone in exactly that area of his right arm that takes the most torque and sheer while engaged in armsports. If you take that and add it to all the other genetic and intellectual advantages, then you have a guy who can pull as hard as he wants and take a lot of abuse for a lot of years.

John has to have some extra tendons and muscles in his forearm. If you watch all his matches no one ever takes his wrist. I haven’t seen anyone take his wrist even in matches he looses. Even guys with the strong hands like his wrist does not give at all. I think this alone makes it super hard to beat him because you can’t compromise his wrist and get a leverage advantage.

After They Interviewed Me They Allowed Me To Enter in every weight class Only Right Armed And Single elimination there were 12-to16 People in every class and I was ArmWrestling all of ‘‘em every 1:- to 3: minutes I Ended Up ArmWrestling Over 70 competitors in all 5- weight classes and they all grabbed my hand and twisted my wrist into their favor every match and I caught them all And just held them almost putting me down and I told everyone of them are you sure you want me to go as I just held them and When they convinced me I could go I Went And They Lost EXCEPT FOR A COUPLE AND that was because The way the referee was trained When someone’s arm was 2/3 to 3/4 Way Down They would Call it for the other person because they never experienced anyone ever that Did it just like Me & From that time On as ArmWrestling grew more & more The word got out about me This Completely unknown arm wrestler is the real deal And this was video Recorded by Them and at that time I didn’t know anything about ArmWrestling According to RULES AND I didn’t even learn How to Place My feet or any of the pro training Ways ect I just stood there and caught them with my wrist Twisted in there favor and I would Tell them to make sure they were giving it all they have like theirs no tomorrow and then ask them if they really wanted me to show them I can slam them down and if the referee hadn’t prematurely called it in the known favorites favor and they told me if I can slam them down prove it & I Did. At The End Of That My First Tournament Ever I Was Awarded The Best Overall Champion in all 5 Weight Classes Special Trophy 🏆 They Said As it was all Documented On Their videos. No they had a particular match years ago. I can't remember when but I'd say about 10 years ago. I saw it on KZread. You can probably find it. It was competitive but Devon won. I think It might have been around the time when Devon was left n right hand world champ.
