Immenso Scarlatti!

Splendida esecuzione, piena di pathos. Domenico Scarlatti qui compie il miracolo di rivestire di note il testo, rispettando il senso ma anche esaltando il sentimento. E' un brano barocco, ma già con lo sguardo al futuro preromantico.

I went out of my way just now to hear D. Scarlatti's choral music. It is never played on the radio and rarely in the concert hall. For most of us pianists, Scarlatti is strictly associated with his keyboard works. This is not a bad thing because it is the largest portion of his creative output and it is collectively a wonderful work of art. It is a pleasure to hear my hometowns own Tafelmusik lead by Jeanne Lamon. I am unfamiliar with Marie-Nicole Lemieux but am won over. This late Scarlatti work seems to be more a cantata for solo voice and orchestra. So far the musical ideas seem fairly conventional with few of the Spanish tinged crashing dissonances of his keyboard exercises.

Pure beauty! Where on earth does one find a score for this? I'd give much to be able to learn it, but it seems to be pretty hard to find.
