Dome Pools Magaliesberg Overnight Hike - South Africa
In November 2022 we spent 2 nights in Dome Pools situated in the Magaliesberg mountain range about an hour away from Pretoria South Africa.
On the hike out we got caught in a good old fashioned lightning storm and with just a few kilometres left I heard a hiss in front of me, looking up we found a Puff adder ready to strike. I have never been so grateful to hear a hiss, a warning from a puff adder, a snake that usually doesn't give you any warning at all of their existence until you step on them and get injected with their deadly venom. This felt like a miracle.
About Dome Pools:
Dome Pools is a wilderness hiking venue, involving an easy walk over a hill and along a stream to some of the biggest and deepest rock pools in the Magaliesberg, making it a fantastic venue for swimming in the summer months. The path is not marked - it is essential to follow the route on the map. Non MCSA members must obtain a permit from the MCSA Magaliesberg Section. This is private property, MCSA managed. Access and permits by courtesy of the owner.

Hello Edwin Beautiful video and I just wanna say you've totally inspired me to go out in nature and enjoy God's Masterpiece, if I have this beautiful experience sans adder experience. Doing my first Castle gorge hike on Saturday

Ahh Mpho you in for a treat! Castle gorge is indeed a created masterpiece made for us to marvel in. Please let me know how you enjoy castle gorge 😃 it’s the best hiking trail close to jhb in my opinion.

This looks awesome! If you enjoyed this, then have a look at the Tufa waterfalls in the Blyde river canyon. Also, Mariepskop, which is one of my fave places to go to, amazing rainforest midway and high altitude flora on top. There is a hiking trail too.
