Tom's mask cracked me up at the start 😂 seriously though, I am raging about Dom's omission. I would understand not taking Dom if you're taking just 2 strikers, but taking Toney instead is a joke! Let's be honest, Southgate has already alluded to the fact that he likes having Toney 'around the team'. There must be other things he's thinking about... doesn't make it right though. What's even crazier is the wider media isn't even questioning it?! We are so below anyone's notice, it's insane. Big enough to get a pat on the head for not getting relegated, but not big enough for anyone to accept that our players are actually good.

It's a disgrace Toney has gone. Don't forget one of his goals was from cheating (foamgate against forest). A cheater, who got suspended for cheating... And then cheated on his come back. I hope he gets red carded in a competition where he's not protected by the PGMOL. I despise him. Dom deserved to go.

There's no media talk about Solankie The bbc never had his name in any football story..he's just gone under the radar...even TV broadcaster's are silent...but Toney is a hero...maybe because like them he's a cheat...I'm waiting for the European refs to send him off for diving...I don't like the guy...and someone who bets on his own team losing has to be a dodgy member of a team? I have a lot of respect for Southgate...but come on a developing 26 year old who came through the ranks...won the u17 European and u20 world Cup and golden Boot..scored 19 epl goals and even had 3 more wrongly chalked off against a known cheat (on and off the feild)who managed 4 goals ....what's going on! And the media stay silent.....

No one even mentioned dom on sky sports news

Villa fan in peace - Southgate left out Marcus Rashford stating that there had been better, more in form players that deserved the place before him, which makes sense, then chooses Toney before Solanke......... absolute madness !!

I think, regardless of form or relative quality or whatever other justifications one might make, it's in awfully bad taste to reward someone who's only just returned from an extended cheating ban with the *honour* of representing their country in a major tournament when there are others who played by the rules available. Utv.

It is not an honour to play under Southgate. Southgate ruins players. Better for Solanke to play club football. Solanke is a very good team player and Southgate ruins teams and plays individuals, undermining them in the process. Better for Solanke not to be messed up by Southgate.

I can see why Southgate selected him, he plays a different game to Solanke. Dom plays in the same mould as Watkins. Toney is more direct.

Solanke should be on the plane. So much for Gareth’s comments in the past that playersinform will be given an opportunity. Clearly not. The midfield looks weak on holding /screening players. Cook can both hold, create and also is versatile for full back and other midfield positions. Pie Exiled in Melbourne

All this proves is that CHEATS DO PROSPER! What a fantastic example to aspiring footballers, hoping to rise up the rankings! I wonder who might be on Going-Southgate’s Reserve List if Kane, Watkins or (heaven forbid) Toney pick up an injury and can’t make the final squad?

Southgate is haunted by his catastrophic miss at Euro 96 ( which I traveled from the U.S to attend from the last 16 all the way up to and including the final) and has repeatedly picked one trick tonies., sorry, that should be ponies ever since in the hope it will rebuild his national standing. Has it worked to date? No, it hasn't. His team selection sucks and has year in, year out. To pick a player who has been caught breaking FA rules and missed more than half of the season over Dom who has had a career season is a joke. Also it doesn't set much of an example to kids does it. I hope that it all goes wrong for Southgate and he is fired as soon as the 3 Lions get knocked out in the group stage, never to be seen again. On the plus side, Dom hopefully will now be on the pre-season tour on this side of the pond as a result .

James Trafford is even worse than Ian Walker was and he got picked! Toney is class, but he is apparently injured and on stinking form! and Mainoo was 💩 against us. Southgate didn’t have any credibility to get the England job in the first place.

Dom robbed of a hatrick against brentford by a substandard referee… which probably also robbed Dom of a possible euro place

How did he cheat ffs? He’s been injured and not played much recently, looked back on it v Toon where GS watched him, last season he scored 20 league goals and couldn’t oust an always injured Callum Wilson, he played well v Belgium before injury and that imo cemented his place. How did he cheat?

There is no rational explanation on why Southgate chose Toney over Solanke. I think Toney will be dropped after the friendlies anyway. This does not diminish Solanke's quality and on the contrary it will increase his value. To look at the positive side, at least the danger of Solanke being injured before and during the Euros is eliminated so he could concentrate on going to another club and generate most revenue for Bournemouth in his transfer to willing buyers.
