I graduated HS in 1985 , and I remember this duo. Everyone secretly thought with such great chemistry that these two had a 'thing' , but alas they were just that good of friends, nothing more. Sure they loved one another, but kept it professional, RIP Kenny

Listening to Kenny and Dolly reminds me of being a kid listening to what my dad played on record.

My mum took me to see her live in Glasgow in 2011 and she was soooooooooooooooooo amazing. Her personality is so infectious. She's a ton of fun without being a time waster - did the whole show herself with band and no support act. She played so many different instruments and explained the songs again without seeming like it was wasting time. She is awesome. Saw Kenny a few times and he was always good too.

Dolly sang this with him for this performance, but it is a duet of Kenny and Sheena Easton. I love Dolly, but you should check out the original also.

I was 12 in 1985. And agreed, I am so glad we have video of these things. It's the only way we can go back, and introduce people of the future to these moments.

Did you see Kenny's face light up on Dolly's first note? Love it I was listening to Kenny Rogers when he was with the First Edition.

I did see Kenny's face lit up, it seemed that he didn't know that Dolly was there and singing. He also let the mic slip in his hand. I believed that he called her to come and she surprised him.

Sheena Easton originally sang the song with him...I love Dolly when she said "who needs Sheena Easton" lol....love their version together!!!! and I love Dolly's laugh and they both have a sense of humor....and yes youngin'...lol...I graduated HS in 1985

This is one of Bob Seger’s songs. He put it out in the late 70’s & it was a hit. Different artists have covered it but in the 80’s Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton in the mid 80’s I think & it blew up to be a big hit yet again. I love watching them together.

I graduated also in 1985.. they were just Besties.. such love for each other and great vocals together.. RIP Kenny... My 1984 Prom was Kenny and Dolly Islands in the Stream.. lol

Sheena Easton was who Kenny origianly did this song with. It was a huge hit. Dolly makes more jokes about herself than anyone else possibly could. One of her famous quotes is (talking about herself) "it takes a lot of money to look this cheap". lol

Dolly has such a great sense of humor. She has funny moments videos - she is so funny

No ear piece. No autotune. This is when singers could sing.

I'm 48 and I am completely taken with these reaction videos of a younger generation experiencing and appreciating something that has for so long been a wonderful part of my life. It's mesmerizing to see a person's face go blank or frozen at some of these beautiful moments of performance art. It is like seeing history repeat itself when you see someone get the same chills you did over 3 decades ago.

I'm 62 and saw Kenny in Montgomery al in 1979.

Dolly and Kenny sang to great together and best friends and saw Dolly crying at the passing of Kenny they love each others friendship both great both legends and Kenny RIP with our loving God now

I was 5-6yrs old when this version came out. Not only was Kenny Rogers a great singer, he was also a pretty good actor as well. In the 80's he starred in a movie called The Gambler and he also starred in a movie called Wild Horses (a very hard movie to find nowadays).

Kenny did many duets w/ people like Sheena Easton, Dolly Parton, Kim Carnes, Ronnie Milsap. I even saw him when he hosted the CMA awards in 1984 he sang the song "What About Me" with Crystal Gayle and Bill Medley. I was a freshman in HS in 1985.

Always loved Dolly and Kenny together.

At 7:40 where Dolly jokes about her dress, she made a similar joke during the first episode opening of her tv show The Dolly Show in 1987. After the opening song, she told the audience what she hoped to offer them. "For you ladies, I'm going to be wearing some pretty spectacular gowns. And for you men, . . . I'm going be wearing some pretty spectacular gowns." (accented with her sweet country girl giggles) Really enjoyed your reaction on this duet. Most assuredly Dolly Parton is a National Treasure.

I was 7 in 85. I've been watching these two all my life and they had some of the best stage chemistry I've ever seen. When you're performing with a lady, you need to let her shine. I've had the chance to preform with several, and it can be an amazing experience. These two had it down perfectly.

Billy, in the middle of the Vietnam war, Kenny wrote and released a song “Ruby, don’t take your love to town”, about a vet. It would not be played today because of a certain line in the song. I would love to see your reaction, keeping in mind the time period the song was released.

Actually ruby was a song first recorded by mel tillis. The first time kenny sang the song was with the first edition.

I saw Dolly & Kenny in 1999. I was 4 when this was filmed.

In a tribute concert that premiered on A&E for Kenny Rogers, Kenny said in an interview that their relationship between the two of them wasn't a romantic but their relationship was more of a brother/sister teasing kind.

Billy i have done Karaoke for many years and i have sang so my Kenny Rogers songs it took me a min to learn it. And many more country stars i was practicing 4 to 5 hour days every day my buddy had a karaoke business.

I have been married 11 years, 2 of my siblings 33 years, my parents 53 years, she was 16 him 19, and all of my aunts and uncles made it over 50. It exists, it is just hard work and focusing on your vows not the "perfect day". The wedding is the beginning, not the reason.

I got lucky enough to be able to take my mother to see Kenny Rogers in concert like 10 years ago. It broke our hearts when we heard he had passed away. I was 12 years old when they did this show.

You need to watch some of her old movies sometime, too, like Rhinestone and Smokey Mountain Christmas. She was really funny :) and all the music's great. Always has been really sweet and I feel for her so much, losing him. They were a great duo.
