Just lost a beloved aunt and this was a favorite song of hers. I feel her smiling down on me when I hear it, especially in Ms. Parton’s ethereal voice.

Tears all over me Just lost my Uncle, a gallant man of God who gave all himself for the cause of the gospel. Not in tears because he passed away but I'm moved by how a person can serve the lord right from his beginning to the end. I pray for such grace.

Dont tell all the Southerners but this song AND 'Wildwood Flower' were written by J.P. Webster a YANKEE from NH while living in Wisconsin in 1860. Neither he nor the lyricist were Baptists ;) Your ancestor was an American Genius.

I am so sorry to hear of the heartless way you learned of your Aunt's death. My mother in law passed 5 days ago. Her last request in palliative was listening to Dolly Parton sing In The Sweet By and By. Her last breath came just as the song ended. Peace.
