I don’t even know where to begin to practice this. This is by far the most beautiful take I’ve seen.

Great playing! I particularly liked how you put the melody on the bass strings sometimes. There was a mellowness about it that was really pleasant. Well done and thanks!

Appreciate that encouraging observation. We guitar players get a lot of enjoyment from playing these great old songs don't we. Thanks.

Art, I am a true admirer of your playing and technique. I have watched as many of your videos as I have been able to find and you make that epiphone guitar appear as if it is a part of you. Also I would say the same about your Gibson Chet Atkins model classical. Do you have any published material that is available for purchase? I am intrigued by your chord structures and presentation. Also that unique pick sure arouses my curiosity. It seems to give you more options in your playing style than either a regular thumbpick or flat pick. Great picking my friend. -Dwayne Monroe-

Thank you, my friend, for those very generous remarks about my guitars and my playing. Your comments made my day and also conveyed to me that you are a keen observer with good knowledge about playing techniques. Quite a number of the structures I use have resulted from seeking ways to make things easy on my hands and a desire to avoid sounding choppy between chord changes. It's delightful to me that you notice and find them intriguing. The pick does help me too in things I like to do. I wish I could tell you that I have some published materials available. I've jotted down some thoughts, desiring for quite some time to write about playing techniques but just haven't gotten around to getting anything ready for publication. But thank you for causing me to think about it further. I'd be interested to know about guitar things that you do.

Hi Art, I am very happy that you took the time to respond to my little memo. I think you have some great arrangements for guitar and the talent to present them very well. I certainly would purchase some if they became available.. You inquired about the guitar things that I do. I started playing guitar about 1954 or 55. I was 23 or 24 at the time so I got off to a late start. I am not a really accomplished player, as you are, but I do enjoy it very much. I have a Nashville Classic, a Godin Multiac SA, and a Taylor 814. My favorite, as they say, is which ever one I happen to be playing at the time. I have subscribed to your music channel, so hopefully, I will be able to keep up with any additional postings that you make. Respectfully, Dwayne

p { margin-bottom: 0.1in; line-height: 120%; }a:lHi Dwayne, From those dates, I think you started on the guitar about the same time as me. I was about 13. My folks had provided accordion lessons for me which then helped me several ways when I started on the guitar. Like you, I really enjoy it. Those guitars you have are some great guitars. You say you're not an accomplished player but considering those guitars you have and your years of playing I'd bet you play very well. One thing I learned long ago is that I don't have to be equal to the best players before I can play music for myself and others to enjoy. Exceptionally fast picking and guitar playing tricks can be entertaining, of course, but the guitar itself make beautiful sounds. For me, smooth sounding melodies with nice chords produce the music that I really enjoy. Thanks for subscribing to my channel. Best to you.

Hi Richard. I appreciate your interest. I haven't thought about making a video like that but it might be a good idea. I will add it to my list of things to do. I'm glad you like the arrangement. Thanks

Thanks. That's as great a compliment as my playing has ever gotten. Chet was the smoothest, most innovative, most famous and interesting player to come along and he influenced so many guitarists to apply his thoughts about guitar playing in things they do. Trying to copy some of his sounds has been a major interest to me on the guitar. What a treasure his recordings are!
