Thanks for.all the information on food's that sound edible, and a good meal. Everybody, PLEASE DON'T purchase food's that are a cheap deal. No joke, the shit that's the content of the food is down right nasty! You probably won't get sick now but take care of yourself guy's; prep food's and PLEASE cook at home; or from someone you trust. The shit l heard and saw would turn u off too. Example's, all the Dollar store's to KFC. I need to stretch my ca-ching and my food stamps too. It just isn't worth it to eat shit and die later from built up poison you eat and feed your family. I know, l've been homeless. I'm disabled, alone and will be 65 Christmas. I'm not talking out my ass. We deserve better. Happy Holidays to you,Mom in Miami

The canned "Comfort Creek Dumplings and Chicken" kept me alive for two weeks when I was broke and deathly ill with the flu this winter. Yes, it is bland with more dumplings than chicken, but it was the perfect nourishment for me at the time. I added salt and pepper to add a little bit of taste. I still keep several cans in my pantry and eat it once or twice once a month. It's inexpensive, heartier than soup and really isn't that bad in my opinion. Thank you for reviewing so many Dollar Tree food items. I am very hesitant to buy anything out of the refrigerator section at Dollar Tree unless it is a well known brand. Great info!

Heartier than soup? this stuff is garbage. A properly made soup, made from actual vegetables, is so much better for you than this muck. You can make it in bulk and freeze it. Add some decent bread and you have a proper meal.

I'll admit that I've bought a few of these in my darker hours... but I've learned now that I'm so much better off buying beans and rice in bulk, and of course, catching eggs, chicken etc when it's on sale at local grocery stores. Now I usually keep my monthly grocery bill under $100 a month. Regardless though, thanks for the info and research you've done for us all, big thumbs up!

I wrote long reply, then lost it spell checking, so I'm not going to spell check this. My keyboard doubles letters. Basically, what I said, is less is more. Eat less, but better quality foods. Don't by those freezer meals, but do buy other single ingredient foods, and make something. With a bag of flour, milk, water or plant beverage, lemon juice, and baking powder,, one can make pancakes, waffles, French toast, muffins, bread,, rolls, cookies, pie,, etc. With 2 cups of flour,, baking powder, and 1 cup off fruit (blueberries--possibly frozen at the $1 store), or vegetable (sweet potato/pumpkin), one can make 12 muffins, which will last 3 people a month, if they are eaten once a month. Learn how to make Roux (1tbs flour mixed in 1 tbs of butter, to form a paste, which is aa thicker). With Roux, you can make gravy, pudding, chowder,, white sauce, stews,, justt by thickening milk or broth.. Also, Americans, eat WAY too much animal based "protein" items, such as dairy, eggs, cheese, and meat. People only need 45 GRAMS of protein, from all edibles containing it in a DAY. Those Chef Ernesto veggie burgers (more like fritters), have 5 grams of protein, per burger. Add 1/2 cup of baked beans, and it gets more substantial ONE beef burger patty, by itself, without a bun, or anything, is around 20 grams of protein BY ITSELF. ALMOST HALF THE DAILY REQUIRED AMOUNT. Now add to that, any eggs, milk as a drink, cheese, and other animal products, at the other two meals, and it's a diet, well OVER the required daily protein amount. Anything in excess, will cause health problems. Humans, don''t need meat & milk EVERY meal. If you want meat or milk every meal, then just use half as much. Eating/buying less animal products, will save a lot of money. I know a person, who goes through a gallon of milk a week. That''s 4 gallons a month. At around $3 a gallon, that's = $12 a month, in milk alone. Making meal plans, really helps,, then you can inventory exactly what you use, and how much it will cost per month. If you can make things yourself, with single ingredients, it may be cheaper, and definitely more healthier than buying premadde. When you make it, there's no encyclopedic ingredients list in it, and you can omit salt and excess sugar.
