Amazon music on Google TV with Chromecast plugged into the Q990 soundbar or a TV with eARC seems to do the job. The Amazon app claims it's playing Atmos and not "ultra" when set up this way.

Listening to dolby atmos music on sonos arc with Amazon music is awesome.

My Sonos app on my android phone shows I'm playing Dolby atmos on my sonos beam 2 over WiFi signal.

🍻Great video. I also rock an HD arcana. I have to checkout Apple Music.

@@archwaytech I do. I’ve noticed that I seem to have to do it more often recently.

I too was really disappointed that apple tv app on my samsung TV doesn't pass through Atmos to my soundbar Q950A. Only apple music on phone or apple tv box support it. Did you check the apple music app on Nvidia shield? Does it pass through Atmos, as Android apple music app does support lossless/Atmos.

Yeah that’s frustrating… if the tv can pass through Atmos movies from Apple TV then they should’ve enabled Atmos from Apple Music. I haven’t tried it on the Nvidia Shield but I’ve seen people struggle to get it working on forums. I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple wants you to buy the Apple TV for Atmos music. Hopefully that changes soon though because it sounds great and would be awesome for more people to experience it.

Is it worth it to buy the Apple TV compared to playing “stereo” music? And if you play lossless on atmos off does the arc see the tv signal and doesn’t use full rear sound like I play music now?

If you have rears speakers with your arc then yeah its worth it... I would buy a second hand Apple TV 4k to test it out. If you aren't using Atmos it'll still play through the rear speakers but just play the same music as the soundbar.

I can play atmos in my sonos arc surround using Tidal app in my sony bravia xr A80J. So not true that you can only use apple tv to play atmos in sonos arc. You can also play Atmos in Tidal app through Airplay from iPhone to Sonos Arc.

Hi Josh have you noticed a sound reduction on your arc from the latest firmware update 14.12 , the soundbar has gone quieter.

Yeah it has little bit. I’m sitting down comparing the Samsung and Sonos right now and the Sonos volume doesn’t have the volume range the Samsung does.

I’ve got a Bose 900 but don’t have the luxury of playing Atmos music it’s all the time LPCM 2.0 stereo
