Doing great things from a small place. | Tunde Onakoya | TEDxNileUniversityofNigeria

This Tedx talks about how actions and steps young people see as "little" can make a difference in the lives of people and society. Tunde Onakoya is a Nigerian National Chess Master and coach. He founded Chess in Slums Africa in 2017. This non-profit organization utilizes the game of chess as a tool for social intervention-a bridge between disadvantaged kids and their ambitions, a framework to give children in impoverished communities access to tuition-free education, learning resources, and mentorship opportunities. Slowly and steadily, the project is rewriting a new narrative and building an inclusive future for every African child. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

He was labelled an 'olodo' (dullard) by his promary school teacher. Imagine that! I hope that teacher is still alive today to see what Tunde has become. Tunde is in Guinness book of records. Patrice Evra came to see him in Lagos. The governor of Lagos, Sanwo-Olu hosted him. He was the cynosure of all eyes as he played in New York Times Square. His picture was on the billboard in Times Square. He's travelling round the world ... I doubt if anyone but his patients would have known about his existence if he got that 1mark and became a doctor. Just an Ikorodu boy who learned to play chess. Never despise small beginnings.

The cleanest speech I have ever heard. Continue to soar higher sir... I remembered some few years ago when you helped some siblings out the slum. You gave them a roof over their head and because they have left school along time , you employed a tutor for them so they can fit in back into their appropriate classes. I shared this story with my kids back then and I still reminded them again . Saying "Do you remember that brother that helped those children , come and see him again ". Thanks so much for all you do for Humanity . 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

What a speech!!! I was really down for the most part of today and i went to church this evening. Usually God would speak to me, comfort me, correct me When i go to church like that. But today was different, i wasn't feeling any better after the service. Cane back home sitting on the chair in my room, having soo much to get done but no life(strength)to get sh*t done. The Holy made me open this app and this is the first video I'm seeing. I feel better now!!!
