You're more likely to see female bears traveling with their cubs through a neighborhood because they know the males won't. Yes I agree some animals only care about their own survival. But not all animals are like that

It is so refreshing when people exhibit such respect and love for animals. The dog cared for the lamb the way she had been cared for by her human.

I had a Ewe that had white muscle disease, I didn't know that sheep have to have a selinium and vitamin E. I lost her this winter

It's amazing how this shows that love transcends to all living beings and even animals that aren't of the same species still feel compelled to give love to someone else even if that someone is different than themselves. To give and receive love is the greatest grace of life.

It gets me every time to see these beautiful friendships develop between animals who aren't the same species and don't speak the same language. It proves that "words" sometimes aren't necessary at all. This is such a sweet tale.

I think animals communicate in pictures. That’s what pet psychics claim. Humans don’t pick up on the pictures that we send out, but our animals do. So it stands to reason that other animals can see/hear the pictures (or telepathy?) sent by other animals.

❤️🐑 Well I got my fill of warm fuzzies for the day! That was so stinking adorable! Who else was rooting for the little lamb to be able to become a "house sheep" and stay inside with Mac?

This proves that love conquers all barriers

Beau was such a pudgy fur baby and Max was so happy to have a friend to run, to care for and have fun with especially when lamb was that tiny. So sweet.

That's not veterinary research, that would be some branch of ethology. Not sure what mean by longevity etc? Or what species, because any study is species specific. Plenty of research done about sheep and how to get a sheep to foster another sheeps baby (quite gruesome and not easy and the window of opportunity is tiny). Generally speaking most domestic animals of social nature far surpass humans in absolute need of and instincts regading sociality. Humans can manage alone or with very little social structure or interactions, these animals cannot. And insticts of protecting young are often very strong if not percieved as prey. But for sheep, it's as complicated as refusing a lamb that they don't perceive has their personal smell. There are evolotionary reasons for this. Some pack or flock animals pool their resources and raise their young collectively to some degree. Dogs and domestic cats are amongst them (some wildcat species too). There's plenty of research done on all kinds of animal behavior. Which is also why in many countries there are strict regulatiins regarding picking up baby wildlife to take home to "rescue". 9 out of 10 of the Anerican videos online aren't rescues but people who know nothing, steal babies when they are unattended (which happens daily) and then promptly domesticated rather than rehabilitated for sucessful release back to the wild. Since this became a huge industry and vehicle for attention thanks to the internet, alot mire damage has been done than good, because humans are so needy in their feels and don't bother about all the science that's available to them. Conservationists can no longer keep up with the sheer amount of "rescued babies" of many wild species and some of them endangered. Once treated like pets, their chance of being rewilded is gone and they end up in overcrowded sanctuaries or euthanized and that very same person goes at it again. Nobody cares about science except the scientists in the US these days. Not the peer reviewed research findings on human behavior either, or the environment. It's staggering.

Humans can get post-partum depression. It's not that much of a stretch to think that something similar is happening to the sheep. Not their fault, and they can't get therapy or medication for it like we can.

This was one of the sweetest animal stories of the hundreds I’ve seen! I loved the image of Max and Beaux reuniting in the field, as if there were no other sheep around. Max knows exactly which one is Beaux and they pick up where they left off. They’re precious!

Such a beautiful friendship between them. It’s wonderful that you let the two become good friends and still play together.

This is lovely! I'm happy bc this is a farm animal allowed to live like it's meant to, who wouldn't have been accepted by another sheep and isn't expected to be a lifelong cute pet. The best possible outcome, and a lovely dog momma and friend.

Wow! Im a covid long hauler and it's been debilitating as well as frustrating. I keep a positive mind set but to see this here today really made my heart sing! It feels like this was meant solely for me even though it wasn't. Thank you for this! TY for being a light worker full of love and faith!
