In the midst of all the horror stories of people dumping their pets at kill shelters without a second thought, this family is like a ray of sunshine. Thank you for standing by Chaps until she got back on her feet. The way she looks at her parents, so clear just how much she adores them ❤

If you slow the video way down, you can see what looks like the front of her going one way and her back end twisting a different way. She may have slipped a disc monetarily or pinched the nerve in her spinal cord. Both are really painful ... at least in my "human" experience they are.

This happened to my poodle mix when he was 13. Was running and then his back legs just quit. We had to buy him a crate and keep him in it, pretty much immobilized for almost 3 weeks. He was taking anti inflammatory medicine and pain killers. We had to hold his back end for potty breaks for almost 2 months, which caused me a lot of pain in my lower back because he was a smaller dog, so I was always bent over, plus picking him up and carrying him. But after about 3 months, he started to be able to walk again. There was no way I was going to just give up. He was with us for another year and a half when, sadly, he got sick with cancer and I had the vet come to our home and send him over the rainbow bridge in a most peaceful way. I miss him so much, it's been almost a year now..😢

On September 18th our beautiful dog was at the front door just watching the cars go by. Within minutes she went to stand up and couldn't. She crawled her way to the hutch and that was it. We took her to the ER and they told us she was paralyzed in her left leg. They started naming off all of these things they could do and when they got to the 3k MRI we said you might as well stop. But of all the exercises that you've showed on this post they never should anything to try and help her. We brought her home Sunday night and it was horrible. We had to take her back to our vet and they released her to heaven. My heart is breaking in a million pieces right now. Cherish your sweet angel and love her tight. A slice of pizza crust, a mini bagel with a spoonful of peanut butter. She'll love you forever and ever!!🐶🐶😭😭😪😪

We went through something similar 3 years ago with our Dotson.. she came in from outside and was walking funny trip to ER she had something wrong with her spine can't remember what it's called now but common to Dotson's. We were given a 3 options surgery $8000, Euthanasia or take her home on complete bed rest for a month and see how it went. Looking in to those bright eyes no way could we even think about Euthanasia, $8000 was out of our budget range so we brought her home on pain meds and some other meds and complete bed rest. We had to help her Express her urine, had to help hold her up while she pottied a lot of care but a month later she had learned to walk with her disability and is still alive 3 years later our Vet is amazed neither the ER Vet or our Vet ever believed she'd survive. She's 13 years old now and not on any pain meds at all. Praise the Lord divine intervention there. Anna In Ohio

Our 10 year old good boy, Cassius, was a boxer who had DM. He was slowly becoming paralyzed. Although we knew he would never "recover", we made sure to give him the best life with weekly acupuncture, a variety of physio activities, and eventually a wheelchair. He got to be himself until we lost him at 12. Our vet said he never saw a dog live so long and so well with this disease. This situation took me right back. It warms my heart to no end, and brings more than a few tears to my eyes, to see people treat their fur baby with so much love and acknowledge them as an equal member of the family. Fur children are the best IMHO there are over 8 billion homo sapiens and most are complaining, greedy, fearful,.vengeful humans...well a lot are these two are saviors and Chapy returns the love and gratitude. thank goodness no one gave up! bravo

Though physio exercises for this kind of thing might not look like much, they are *very* hard and *very* painful, not just in the moment of the exercises, but in the days of increased pain and exhaustion that follow each session. You all made me sob! I foster. And so happy you didn’t give up on your baby. I had a blue healer therapy dog years ago. You both did a fantastic job helping heal your pup.

I just started this video, but the way I was already moved to tears because even when Chaps was screaming in pain, she managed to crawl to her owner and collapse in his arms😭❤️

My dog also was injured by playing fetch and we didn’t do surgery because they told us it might not work, we went to animal acupuncture vet and he said I can’t promise anything but after a few sessions he was able to start walking again and we were thrilled but we learned the hard way that fetch, jumping from high cars are very bad for dogs. walking is great, playing with other dogs on grass is good. Our dog lived to be 17 ❤

I bought a motorcycle and the first thing all my friends and family asked was, "Where's your dog going to ride?" And my answer was, "Are you nuts? I would never risk her life on a motorcycle!" So good for you guys doing what needed to be done to give Chaps what she needed.

My dog had a similar back injury w a herniated disc. At first it's heart breaking bc you want to fix it and take the pain away on to yourself. Luckily dogs are strong and fighters that can bounce back. Puts how precious your babies are in perspective tho for sure.

I had an older cat who suddenly lost all use of his back legs. The vet examined him and suggested putting him down. I balked at this since he otherwise seemed healthy. I placed his food, water and litter box within a few inches of him, and he was able to drag himself to them. The vet finally made arrangements to have him seen by a chiropractor willing to work on him. One treatment and he was walking normally! I took him for a second treatment just to make sure. He lived for several more years without a recurrence. I think it’s possible the dog would have made a much quicker recovery with chiropractic treatment.🙂.
