I recently rescued a 14month old female from a terrible existence. I've had her 2 months now. She became fast friends with my Border Collie & a welcome companion in our home

I've been watching videos of Belgium malinois flat out for last two weeks and getting more excited. I'm picking up my new malinois puppy in two weeks time when he's eight weeks old. I've been missing having a dog since I lost my 17 year old border collie fourteen months ago but took me time to be able to be ready without feeling I'm replacing him. It's been a lonely depressing year I'm a introvert and have always connected with animals avoided people I can't deal with people at all. I can't wait to have a dog again for the security, unconditional love and the routine. I love going on long walks and hikes and have been resigned to using treadmill for last year because I had no dog I can't wait until my boy old enough to take for long walks and overnight camping trips. He's going to be so well trained and spoilt because I work selling from home and have 24/7 to devote to him. These dogs definately aren't for people who don't have a lot of time for the dog or who aren't active with the amount of training, mental stimulation and exercise they need

Just the most wonderful breed of dog. They are not for everyone though! You need to know what you’re doing with them and be prepared to spend a fair portion of your day playing, training and stimulating them if they don’t have a job to do and exercise is paramount. You show this in your video so thank you so much for that. Mine is 13 this year, a retired working Police dog, and of an age (both of us) that we just want to chill and relax now.

Mals are a very special breed. They take a very special person to own and train them. My neighbor has a lovely female. She and my Rottie male are quite the pair when we walk together! We get lots of looks from people passing by.

all the so-called dog experts online say to never rough-house with a dog like Whisky. So, I got a shepherd mix a few months ago and he wanted to rough-house like your husband is doing in the video But I would say to him, "No, no biting." I started rough-housing with him today. He's like a different dog now! Amazing how something that seemingly small can have such a great impact on him. BTW, I live 20 miles outside Albuquerque where Kirtland AFB is located. They have Mals. I used to pet them there, in the Vet clinic, back when I was doing janitorial work on the base. I'm now thinking Chewy (that's what I named him) well might be a Mal mixed with golden retriever or Yellow Lab since he was born in ABQ. He exhibits many of the traits Whisky does. You videos have been priceless to our well being. Thanks for posting them

This brought tears to my eyes, you love your mals just as I love mine , insane amount of love and respect for them. Malinois command respect, they don't demand it but command it. My boy Major is my hero and my life, he came already trained from the military but had failed to make the grade, he's the most amazing dog I've ever known, unbelievably razor sharp smart and constantly keeping me safe and can do the business if I need him to but behind closed doors he's the biggest dope, sop, and hugger. Show him a tiny kitten , small puppy or little kids and he just goes floof, his eyes go squiffy and boss eyed and he just melts but if some narcissistic scumbag raised a hand to me , it's ears cocked weapon armed . What a formidable breed, I'd never be without one now . They just blow any other dog breed out of the water , brain power , skill , speed , agility, loyalty, fun , guarding, protecting , herding , they can do anything they set their minds to doing . Your two are beautiful and I love you guys for the way you love your guys , just subscribed ❤. One ❤ from myself and Major 🇬🇧

They are the same age. They don’t get jealous, Whiskey got to go out last time so it was Freedoms turn this time. Sometimes they get crated and sometimes not.

@@JamieGuzmam Its a very useful skill to teach your dogs. I have 2 dogs and sometimes one of them needs to go to the vet or I take them separately on bike rides. I don't want the other dog to be in distress when left alone. So I train this weekly. Taking one dog and leaving the other home alone. I would recommend training this often :) The dog that's stays at home gets a very nice bone or lick mat with high rewarding food. They love to see us go.

Both dogs just turned two in December. My female Freedom is great out in public but my male whiskey…. He’s not so fond of strangers. I’m ok with that though!

My most honest opinion would be your mom is the only one that can answer that question. They are crazy and fun. However they can have serious attitudes and I do mean serious. They will bite the owner if not trained properly. With so many other breeds being out there I would suggest getting your mom somethings way calmer and less sassy. Amazing dogs but not for everyone.

The little dog. She goes to bed earlier with our daughter. We’ve done that for years lol

How often do they traumatize themselves? I know several owners whose malinois traumatize themselves at least every 3-4 months (eye scratch, sprain, bruise)

I guess I’ve been pretty lucky. Only a few scrapes….. but some insanely close calls. I can see how they would constantly be getting hurt though…. They are crazy! No fear!
