I’ve been a jags fan since 95. I can honestly say Lawrence doesn’t deserve elite quarterback money, he is just to inconsistent .You never know who’s gonna show up from week to week. He is still far better than someone like a Blake Bortles but he isn’t elite!

I think he's a miss. Most great qbs show some consistency by now. He's proven a manageable qb, like a stop gap qb. Not an elite qb, and if the jags strap themselves to him they'll end up like the giants, and the browns, and the cardinals and just hang around in mediocrity

FACTS

I would argue Trevor should be getting a percentage stake in Jaguars ownership because of the role he's already played in securing the franchise's future in Jacksonville. They doesn't come out publicly with a proposal for the stadium renovations in Jax -- in which the city would've been on the hooked for a billion dollars, in the original version of the plan -- without the late run he and his team had to close out the 2022 season, It would've been a terrible image play for the Jaguars if they had presented that same plan coming off another bad season. That Trevor hasn't "looked" like an elite quarterback for a full season is honestly beside the point.

How come yr 1 didn’t happen for Trevor but it happened for Justin fields?

Justin Fields has highlights reels on KZread however winning it's not. Geno Smith or Minshew are better QBs, so stop it. Fields has bad habits which he needs to break or he'll always be a back up at best. I'll give Lawrence a pass cause that 1st yr was a mess, this past year he was literally Tua. I believe he was concussed in the ladder part of the season yet he played which was idiotic. He has decisive desition making good or bad he doesn't hold the ball. Those he need to get better, Hellyeah.

The problem with everyone in this comment section is that they blame Lawrence for not proving enough. In reality, if we only consider the times that Lawrence hasnt been injured due to his own OL being garbage, we see a QB that has consistently been a top 5 QB at the very least. The problem is, the guy was playing with a concussion, an injured ankle and two other injuries, something no active starting QB has done before, yet we're blaming him for playing bad? I agree that they should wait to see if he can prove to have a full consistent and healthy season before paying him, because we havent gotten to see enough of a healthy Trevor, but to blame him for that lack of consistency is idiotic.

If Russ, Kyler, Dak, Deshaun jones and geno can get paid… Trevor will get paid

Jax's front office has REPEATEDLY FAILED HIM, no different than we did down here with Tannehill - If the OLine can't buy the rookie QB time to let the plays develop then how the fk can you expect the kid to throw with any sorta consistency?

Lifelong Clemson fan here. No, he doesn’t deserve the amount he’ll eventually sign for, but that’s what the Jaguars will have to do in today’s league. A lot of players in general are just making way too much for their own good now.

Lawerence is adapting, he's continuing to prove himself, idk about a big payday, but i could see him, as a franchise quarterback! Just an opinion!

He needs to show that he can make a deep playoff run to deserve a massive contract.

With contracts blowing up especially for wide receivers and edge rushers, $50M a year a QB now will be the going rate salary or maybe higher for a good (not top tier qb) in a year or 2. Beneficial cost wise for the Jaguars front office to lock him into a new contract now. Trevor has the potential to not be just a good qb but an elite. He's really only in his 3rd season as the 1st season was a waste with a disastrous first time NFL head coach and lack of talent surrounding him. With a improved offensive line and talented speed wr on the outside and continuity with his current receivers and SB head coach, he has the opportunity live up to that hype coming out of college.

@@KCocteau15 Mahomes had an injured ankle. Lawrence had an injured ankle, a concussion, a knee injury and another injury I'd forgotten about. Not to mention, Mahomes had an actual functioning OL. Even playing with a concussion alone is unheard of, especially for a QB. My stance on Lawrence is that I want to see a full healthy season from Lawrence to see if he can consistently play great while healthy. To blame him for that lack of consistency so far, however, is entirely idiotic because no QB is going to play well with a concussion. He hasn't been consistent, and it's mostly not his fault.

Lawrence has great Arm talent, and I think he’s got the right coach, I just don’t think the Jags have the right ownership and structure In place
