From the view of the sun, you'll see the sun shines from East to West (right to left) but from the view of the Earth you should see the sun starts to shine from West to East (left to right). So how is it the sun rises from East to West?

Can you guys do a video on that and what would happen if instead of seeing the sun out your east window in the morning the sun was off to your west side? @@adamguymon7096 In terms of colour that wouldn't change if the direction of rotation changed. The red/orange at sunrise/sunset is due to the increased path of light going through air. If you've ever seen light going through a corner of glass and coming out as a rainbow, you may recognise that light from the sun is made from all the colours of the spectrum (red/orange/yellow/green/blue/violet). These colours have a different wavelength, with red being the longest of the visible colours, and violet being the smallest. The smaller colours are scattered as light passes near particles more, so by the time it reaches your eye at dusk/dawn the reds and oranges dominate. Interestingly the sky would be purple because of this scattering if our star - Sol - was a little hotter/bluer as that would put more purple into the light coming from our star, but instead it peaks in green. If the Earth suddenly swapped direction of motion, everyone and everything on land is dead. We spin at about 460m/s, so a change to the other way would be a change of 920m/s relative to your motion. You would be 920 meters east of you in the next second - that is very fast and a very bad impact. Buildings would snap, the friction between air and earth during that swap could potentially ignite fires from the heat. Things living near the coast would not enjoy it as the water would slosh, but the deep parts of the ocean probably wouldn't care too much.

Thanks for the feedback. The dates are for the Southern hemisphere which would include New Zealand.

Can any astronomer or literally anyone please help me figure this out. I'm writing a science fiction novel and I want to know how it would be possible for the sun to rise at a position coming straight up and and perfectly vertical and continue that rise while staying literally completely vertical the entire time until it sets exactly behind you from where it rose. The sun goes straight up and it continues to go directly above you in the sky and sets perfectly behind you. All while you are not moving a step. What conditions would require this as far as tilt and rotation etc etc. I don't care if it's 2 billion years in the future or not I'm just trying to figure this out anyone thank you so much for any help!!!

At 2:07 you mentioned winter ,summer solstice and spring , autumn equinox wrong, they should be opposite i.e : Vernal equinox(about March 21): day and night of equal length, marking the start of spring Summer solstice (June 20 or 21): longest day of the year, marking the start of summer Autumnal equinox(about September 23): day and night of equal length, marking the start of autumn Winter solstice (December 21 or 22): shortest day of the year, marking the start of winter

You are most likely from the Northern Hemisphere (probably North America or Europe), so the dates you stated are correct according to that. However, the video was stating the dates of the solstices and equinox according to the Southern Hemisphere, where it is actually opposite.

yes In our America winter months sun is in south side near equator which is summer in South America, Australia, etc! in so our summer months sun rise east from north which I’m in south California! Yes, as well the orbit of the moon, it’s cycles. OMK Beezy actually no science study shows that sun will ever rise from west. The rotation of earth cannot change its direction suddenly. The quran says that the sun and moon revolves around earth.
