Thanks Khalil, really enjoying all your talks. Looks like all the comments are in reference to not being able to seek intercession from the dead. And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision, (3:169) If you accept the concept of intercession from the living, then anyone who has died in the way of Allah can be considered living and can intercede.

Thank you so much. This is so honest! Intercession is 'implied in the Quran', I've been struggling on this and no one explained it so honestly as Dr Khalil Andani has. Great work!

Great lecture, thanks for the insights. I kinda a disagree where people are asking Imam Ali (A.S) for help or in India they ask Khwaja Garib nawaz the Sufi saint or Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani for help they are dead, they are not alive among us today, right. I personally don't consider this right. Intercession is a part of our Culture no doubt and I respect that like in India people visit the Sufi shrines and ask God for Forgiveness keeping in mind his pious servant. So for them the shrine, the body and grave are muqaddas (holy) and they remind God of his pious servants, which I respect. But calling dead people for Madaad is not intercession according to me. All examples shown above are from the lifetime of the Prophet (God's mercy be on him and his family). But calling the Prophet (God's mercy be on him and his family) now, here makes no sense, his intercession might take place on the Day of Judgement when he is among us.

Surah 24 ayat 35 is about light upon light ,it means the light is not suppose to diminish but will be ignited for ever until the day of judgement, Allahsubahantalla guides whom he wish with his light and this light will intercede for them on judgement day,

You skipped 9:31. It's harder to reconcile with your model. Also, the intercession of saints was definitely established in Christianity as a practice by then, as a formal du'a in the liturgy of the 4th century (Basil the Great) for the general intercession of prayer from the saints. I would not have gone to either the classical Islamic or classical theistic models reading the Sunni ahadith on Muhammad's intercession. The fate of all is preordained there, but so is Muhammad's role as being the mediator of salvation during the judgment. Sorta like "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me." But with a Muhammad spin. ;)

Does the Prophet (sallallahualayhiwasallam) have his own will or free will? Or is he directed by God without being able to refuse a command?

His will is the same like as other human's will. We believe that every human has free will. But that will is superseded by God's will.

"He who obeys the messenger obeys God " is clearly meaning the best role model to follow in worshipping God alone is through the Prophet, who obeys God and worships Him and Him alone. " You Alone we worship and only You we rely on " if your a Muslim and you preform the 5 obligatory prayers you would have to recite this , in that case non has the ability to hear your call and nobody can answer except Allah. The remembrance of Allah is mindfulness. People seeking help from other people in higher ranks or status or knowledge is completely fine. "Ask those who know for help if you do not know how yourself". How do you have time and devotion to call upon other then Him? If it is Him you truly believe in .

Intercession is truth and prophet Muhammad (SAWW) shall intercede on behalf of Muslims on judgement day. Prophets, Saints and righteous people shall be allowed to intercede on the day of judgement. Further, intercession with the names and attributes of Allah is allowed and recommended. One can intercede with mentioniy his good deeds etc. Now coming to seeking help from others. It is allowed to seek help from others subject to following three conditions 1. The person must be alive because dead persons are incapable of helping. 2. The person from whom help is sought must have the power to help.I can't ask for help from a dead Saint when he has no power to do so. 3. He must be present before the person seekiy help. Only Allah is capable of listening and helping even though HE is on HIS throne and physically away.

that's interesting...so it seems that it is permissible to ask for 'help' to the Prophet during your lifetime but not during judgement day (e.g., no helper nor intercession will be you during that day).

If you are Sunni, I suggest you go to the Sunnah website and search for "intercede.". Specifically, Sunan Ibn Majah 4312 and about a dozen like it have the intercession of Muhammad during resurrection. A Christian would see this as a clear response to John 5:16-39 btw, with Muhammad usurping Jesus.

There’s a difference between asking help from the living and seeking intercession from the dead. I respect your scholarship, but this interpretation seems like a far reach.
