I support the harsh stance on drug traffickers. I remember LKY was asked about this and his answer is similar to Min Shan’s. We should protect the innocent instead of feeling sorry for the people who caused so much pain to the victims, for their own profit. Save your sympathy for the victims.

this minister series is really something so niche that no podcast/show in Singapore has offered, so happy for u guys!! I think in a time when politics is getting more and more distant from the youth its great to have you guys bridging the gap for us and on our side airing our "grievances" on gvt's side giving them opportunities to explain, to me its a win-win la and its surely going to inspire youth like me to pay more attention to national issues! All the best ✌

Yes, it is of highest possibility it is a health tracking device. Imagine the level of stress and thought processes each day as a minister - couple that with the health side effects of aging and the lack of quality time for personal matters: hobby, exercising and sleep. May they be blessed with long healthy lives and thank you for your commitment and dedication towards building the nation

I am all for death penalty. For those who are fighting against it, you need to travel more, see more, experience more, in order to truly know how it destroys the individuals and families. This view will come with age; I was once younger and I used to think it’s cool to have lots of fun and a little drug wouldn’t kill but in reality, those people always end up getting too deep into it and have their lives implicated in a crazy way.

Yes. That's what I feel about drugs traffickers and their family who is fighting for them. Their family also enjoy the profits from the successful trafficking attempts but do not return the money when caught. The drug abusers' family should show up at these anti-death penalty protests and shout at them.

Death penalty will still work as long self-discipline and personal responsibility doesn't. The fact is that most convicts are aware of the consequences, and still exercise their freewill. Whether is death penalty or other penalties, no one is (and should be) exempted from the consequences of the things they do or say.

Many SG people are too privileged and taking the safety in the country for granted. Just try staying in any other ASEAN city for a year alone, take public transport and stay on local public housing areas. Just try it and see for yourself why SG death penalties work as intended and is keeping your family out of harm's way.

Re the 'low income' exception for drug traffickers - the problem is that the public policy argument is based on facts and logic, which, sure, makes sense, but appeals to the head and not the heart. IMO the bigger reason is the moral argument - that it is plain bs to say that these people are poor and desperate and that's why they resort to drug trafficking - how about all the poor and desperate people who refuse to take easy money and decide to keep struggling? Making this ridiculous argument spits on their struggles, efforts. Just because you are poor doesn't justify you hurting others, no more than being poor justifies you stealing. There are plenty of poor people who make the difficult and right choice - respect and honour them.

I read a quote somewhere, that mentioned why people should arrest criminals, murderers and drug traffickers despite their sympathetic backgrounds. we owe it all the people who have gone through similar tragedies, who found the strength to find other paths, who made the right choice. it isn’t fair to them, and it isn’t fair to the victims of the crimes. they had a choice, and they chose to go down the wrong path.

I have a feeling that Lawrence Wong has a very diff leadership style and I hope he gets invited in the podcast. Shanmugam was a great lawyer, but I’ve spoken to many police officers and the morale within the SPF seems very low, very high turnover rate. His intellect is admirable but this may compromise leadership skills/ability to relate to those below. He views “affability” as an obstacle to getting things done which says a lot about one’s perspective and people skills (mindset from the past which sets the culture in various gvt agencies). He cites many statistics and “facts” but doesn’t necessarily lead from the heart which is important in bonding / inspiring people, it is a balancing act. The most socially intelligent are those like Jon, who relate to others, help others feel good, SO THAT they get things done. Hard-headedness does not make the best leaders, at least when the term is phrased/used that way. He needs a good deputy to complement his strengths.
