The insane levels of preorders for the the Pyxis create a strong narrative of emerging cinematographers that are excited to capture and tell their stories. My Pyxis is on preorder.

Hi Thx for the reflexion. Personally I am still happy with older last gen Bodies P4K,GH5s image specially GH5s prores RAW converted to CDNG. S5 org has as well a nice image which is better for certain Jobs. But about IQ if you record prores RAW, or BRAW with any camera it is already at very high level...of IQ after composition, light motion etc it makes it special but IQ is +- comparable for most in 24,24,30 fps and native base ISO, above it you can have variation in quality for sure...and in High ISO as well...

An interesting thought provoking speech, thanks! Regarding micro four-thirds, I think part of it is just the movement of technology, and Sony are starting to push way ahead of everyone else, which changes the landscape a lot... The goal was always full frame for most people, but M4/3 was smaller and cheaper, I used a GH5 for years, though often with a speed booster to be honest to make it APSC. But now, if you look at just how small Sony are able to make a full frame camera, an example being the ZV-E1, that really damages the main legacy argument in favour of M4/3: the small size. The ZV-E1 is smaller than the GH6 and weighs nearly half as much and is far better in low light, though it's very much video focussed. If you go with Sony APSC, the A6700 is also smaller and lighter, plus adds in the photo features missing from the ZV-E1. It also allows you to digitally zoom in on the scroll wheel and get an even-smaller-than-micro-four-thirds crop, getting equivalent reach and DOF for telephoto shots. The E-mount lens selection is unrivalled TBH. As a user of the S1H and S5 ii now, as well as an A6700 for gimbal and doc use, I can't see a reason to go back to such a tiny sensor in a big body. If the Panasonic S1H ii inherits a nice autofocus and loses the terrible HDMI delay, it'll be an endgame camera for me as it's almost perfect for most jobs. But I always keep a Sony around for the tiny size as it does that quite uniquely! In short I remember micro four-thirds fondly, and loved my time with it, but do sadly see it as somewhat anachronistic...

Personally I don’t see where any format has massively outperformed MFT from an image quality or technological stand point, and black magic’s full frame cameras have similar dynamic range, worse low light, and no autofocus. All the things that the industry said was wrong with the MFT system. The GH5s/BGH1 have excellent low light performance, and none of the MFT cameras has an overheating problem like the ZV, and there are over 80 lenses for the MFT system! I’m not saying the ZV or BM cameras are bad, but that MFT cameras were obviously never as bad as everyone made them out to be?

@@pragmaticfilmmaking Personally I've never been attracted to any Blackmagic camera as they always had various compromises and issues. When it comes to Panasonic for example, the S range beats the GH range by a couple of stops of dynamic range, by a long way in low-light, stabilisation... the list goes on... and the GH and G are not even that small, all their M4/3 camera are pretty big. So I think the gradual demise of M4/3 is partly cos they just don't stand out a lot any more in a crowded market. That said, rumours are a Panasonic release is imminent, and II bet you it's a M4/3 cam, so maybe they'll make one that beats or matches the S series in spec! Still, when it comes to low light and DR and so on, you're dealing with physics. A larger sensor area helps a lot...

The youtubers dont care about the camera, they want content and views. This camera is just fine.

What I am asking is how the Pyxis 6K and BMCC6K succeed where cameras like the GH6, BGH1, and MFT in general have failed, marketing?

ok, i am a Lumix user: gm1, gh4, gh5, s5... i want the L mount version of the EVA1... but Pyxis could be good for me, a little overkill, but good. I think people just read CINEMA CAMERA and belive... Lumix is great, but you are right, most people dont belive in the name.

There is no hipocracy. Just the pushing of product as it should be. Everyone does the best with what they have, where they are at. Having a case of GAS is a personal issue.

What I’m saying is the criticisms levelled at previous MFT models appear to be all forgotten with the announcement and release of the Blackmagic full frame cameras.
