Five days in on the TMobile 5G internet and so far I have not noticed a difference in performance than that from my cable provider. I took the advice and kept the same name/password of my existing internet and it saved me the hassle of changing it on multiple devices. I’m going to stay with TMobile.

The best part is being able to lock in the pricing for life. Well of course as long as you don’t cancel lol. Going from $150 a month for just cable internet to $30 for better internet for way less has been amazing.

had it for 6 months, around 1 mile with line of sight from the tower. Located on my upper floor facing a window I got the best signal levels. Most of the time i'd get 300/100, however it started falling off of N41 and back to N71 which would give me 10/10. Even though there's an N71 tower nearby that generally gives 100/30, it would stick on that same 5G tower and give me lower speeds. cable offered me 500/100 service for $40 locked in for the next 2yrs, so i switched back. cool technology, I liked the price lock that tmobile offered, but i didn't feel like hacking into my gate or paying for an external antenna to get decent service

I used to only get 5 and below 0mbps most the time with my old internet, and I live out in the middle of the woods haha but I have 4 towers around me about 1.5 miles for most of them so I went to t mobile and they said that My location was perfect because of the towers around my house, I live next to a small town so the towers are never busy and if one is the other isn't. I got lucky honestly haha and its only $25 because we have t mobile service already. I get 350 down and 65 upload. and its amazing that its truly unlimited with no caps.

It depends on the area you are in. For me cable and fiber ends near my house and it costs too much for them to construct what is needed to just serve my house. Tmobile home internet is a life saver.

Yup same here. 2 bars of service on the router, getting 700 ping in CS2 completely unplayable. Getting mostly 30mbps download but does spike up to 200mbps max sometimes and I’m only getting .50 yes not even 1mbps download(constantly). Old internet, spectrum was 100-200mbps download and 10-11 mbps upload(constant). I get around 35 ping in cs2 with spectrum. Supposedly they’re working on 2 towers near me but I doubt that, I’ve always gotten 2 bars of service on my phone which is T-Mobile. So I don’t think we’ll be keeping them. I mean we’re only saving $20 on T-Mobile. $50 T-Mobile or $70 spectrum. And already had the internet go out once of having in for 3 days or so.

Just got this device on a 14 day promo. A Few concerns I have is being able to either disable the built in wifi or at the very least change the SSID and whether or not i will be CGNat'd and not have a public IP address. I did a 5 minute setup and quick speed test and was pretty shocked to get 677/82 with 40ms ping average. Of course frequently bump up against my 100Gig / month cellular data DE prioritization threshold and am curious how T-Mobile will handle my usage.

Ping the same (how thats possible idk but not complaining) lol.

Is it true that plugging a gateway directly into the wall socket and not a power strip is important?.

  • @AlmostInFullColor

    @AlmostInFullColor

    Ай бұрын

Shouldn’t matter for the gateway. I think you may be mixing it up with those powerline extenders you can plug into the wall to get a wired connection or better wifi signal somewhere else in the house that doesn’t have wired drops or good wifi signal. Those need to be plugged into the wall because if they get put into a power strip, the signal may not get to the correct plug location on the strip. And if it did, it would cause slower speeds and more latency. So best to keep those in wall plugs.

  • @AlmostInFullColor

It’s $35 because you don’t have autopay setup. T-Mobile gives a $5 discount per line if you do autopay. It’s has to be tied to s bank card or your back account though. They stopped doing it a few months back for credit cards. How many bars does your phone max out at? If 4 bars are full 5g service for you then you should have no issues. The hotspot has a better antenna in it than a phone. You can run a speedtest using your phone signal and get a good idea of what speeds you will get with the t-mobile home internet setup too. Thanks for the feedback! Happy you got something out of the video.

They only have packages of 100GB, 200GB, and 300GB, no unlimited plans, and the prices for those are $80, $120, and $160 per month. I currently have cable, (not going to plug my provider) that gives me true unlimited, no throttle, for $200 and download speeds of up to 750Mbs. I have been with T-Mob for 10+ years, so it wasn't a new customer thing, so not sure how you got such a great price. Wish I could get the same and I would switch so it would be all in one bill.

Not necessarily. It depends on your phone...do you have a 5g phone, and were you on the 5g bandwidth when you were getting 2 bars? If not then your experience might differ for 5g Internet...not to mention that having a weak signal doesn't necessarily mean you would get slow internet speeds. You could still get fast internet speeds with 2 or 3 bars... especially if it's 5g... 5g provides a broader bandwidth but at shorter distances....whereas 4g is the opposite. I've had T-Mobile Internet for over a year now and get an average of about 94 mbps on 5g, and the tower is literally across the street from me.... however, there is a big tree, and 2 walls and a building in between me and the tower and my windows have metal mesh bars on them so all of those factors in the reception.... if I switch it to 4g then I get about 28 mbps. Still not that great but good enough to do streaming and playing games...I keep my tv and Xbox on 5g and everything else on 4g. By the way, I live in Los Angeles right in the city so there's a lot of other types of interference going on as well and my Internet remains pretty smooth...and more importantly, reliable...unlike spectrum and at&t.🙄

@@AlmostInFullColor I agree, the Magenta is a phone plan. Those don’t seem to have video dialed back. Even my cheap 5G Mint Phone gets 720p no problem. But the 5G tablet plans or 5G hotspot devices have the super fast data speeds, up to .5Gbps! But the videos speeds only provide bitrates for quality viewing anywhere from SD 360p-720p. And the same is true if you have the mid band 5G Home internet. It might be different when the true 5G MM bands come to your neck of the woods! Of course the phone companies are in the business of high price phone plans so those are who they are going to cater to.

I never got a $150 startup fee. Also, another member of this channel wasn’t even an existing Tmobile customer and they didn’t get it either. Not sure why you were charged $150.

@@AlmostInFullColor I haven't paid it yet,and I'm am not on TMobile. On Spectrum, the world's most expensive anything, but going to get TMobile after I went in and talked to them. With what I will be saving compared to Spectrum, the startup fee pays for itself. $90.00/month vs $30.00/month for 2 years, then $50/month after 2 years. This is just for internet.

Thats really weird with the startup fee. Not sure why you are getting that. You should ask why they are charging the $150. I signed up online and they never charged me a startup fee or my buddy who wasn’t even a tmobile customer.

@@AlmostInFullColor Unfortunately,I was correct for this area. "Metro" and TMobile are one company which act as 2... "Metro" can provide me w services IF I get their cell service and pay the 150.00 start up costs.Unfortunately, though "Metro" can provide me services,TMobile 1-800 sales phone line cannot bc "Metro" has too great a share of the local towers here in the mountains. So they act as 2 different companies though they are one, lol.Yes,I DO have to pay a 150.00 startup fee in this area to get w TMobile. It's nobody's fault;just my g'damn dumba$$ luck. I am not trying to be right, just letting you know that what TMobile can offer varies area to area. Even if I got TMobile home internet directly from TMobile,it's still 60.00/month,which I'd be okay with, but too dang high.Gonna check w Verizon next.I am currently paying Spectrum 125.00 for home internet, home phone, and a flip cell w no internet, even after having been a loyal and on time paying customer for about 8 years now.
