Does Nicotine Replacement Therapy Work?

Nicotine patches, gum, lozenges etc are all effective in as much as they do what they set out to do - but is that enough to help us quit smoking?

THANK YOU!!!! I've not been able to describe in words how after the lozenge I do not feel the "craving" to smoke but I TOTALLY struggle with the psychological process of smoking: the movement of arm to mouth, the sucking, the inhaling, the blowing out. It is those actions that are what are the most difficult.

Chris, it has been over three months now, and I've been nicotine free for 2 weeks! I'm so proud of myself, and did do a bit of shopping. I still have had cravings sometimes, but not often. My biggest problem is overeating. I'll continue to watch your videos. Thanks!

It is a smashing one off product for discovering how to learn how to quite smoking minus the hard work. Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got great results with it.

Chris, Thank you for your videos, man. They have helped me immeasurably and just your voice and accent are very soothing as well. Several weeks ago I quit cigarettes after using my first Juul, an e-cigarette here in the US. I have not wanted a regular cigarette since that first time. It just worked. Now I feel the need of course to quit these as well. They are not cheap. Just wanted to throw that out there. Thanks again, sir. You are a godsend to thousands. God bless.

The patch was the only way i could break the cycle. Today is day 8 without a smoke and day 11 on the patch. I smoked for 21 years a pack a day. I never so much as took 24 hours off before now. Day 1 ont the patch i smoked 8, then 4, 2 and i smoked a half a cig on the final day i smoked. I put it out wishing i hadnt even lit it but planning to fininsh it later. I had the urge to push through the rest of the day without smoking. Then when i got up the next i thought if i could get through yesterday with just 1 or 2 puffs i can get through just today without smoking. Wverybody i know talks that smokes talkes about when they quit this time for 2 weeks or that time for a month and i sit there quietly like i cant even go a day. So i wanted to make it one day. And i did. Then i was like that was so goddamn hard i dont ever want to do it again. Lets try to just keep this going one day at a time. And then i did something i thought id never be able to do. I threw out 8.5 cigarettes and my astray. And for the first time in 21 years i slept without my mistress in the house. I felt naked not having a pack of cigarettes on the countertop or in my pocket. But i also feel so liberated by it their absence. Its like having an innocence restored or a burden relieved. I cant tell you how messed up my life is otherwise but i know regardless this is the one best thing i can do for myself

Well done. How's it going? Still smoke free? How long did you stay on the patches?

  • @freedomwarrior5087

You are so right, each person has to do whatever works for them. Fighting against it for me is the worst thing. I tell myself I can smoke whenever I choose, but hopefully I will make a different choice. So far I have done this for almost 24 days smoke free. I was a heavy smoker for over 40 years. I have over 6 years in recovery from alcohol so this also helps a lot. I don't really want to try the patch, I've tried the gum before and I just don't like gum and it gives me a headache. I am currently doing a variety of things including Nicorette lozenge which I can only tolerate a little as it is hard on my stomach. I also Juul and vape a bit. I seem to do less and less as the days go by. However, I'm still ridding myself of a lot of the habits that go along with smoking. In all truth at this point in my life any harm reduction will be beneficial, but I am confident and now committed I can break this habit and I'm in it for as long as it takes.

CHRIS CHRIS CHRIS CHRIS CHRIS! thank you for doing this video. I need to do one about how I am quitting this time, what I am going through, and how I see things now. I am on the patches. through out my life I have quit 3 times. each one was a different demon I was dealing with. what worked once didn't work the next. same for each person. what works for one might not work for the next. I am 106 days quit now. rock on brother!

I used Nicoderm CQ and actually it works but in my mind I missed smoking. Sounds weird, I want to quit but its really hard. I slip every now and then and go outside and smoke one, then regret it, its just really hard to fully quit. Just keep trying, hopefully will actually quit. I have tried I know 10 or more times in the last 5 years.

I agree, these are brifge tools....i stopped smoking cigg 3 years ago, used a vape instead, now ny doc gave me the patches so, if you really want it and have the will power, you can do it. I beat heroin addiction and alcohol as well. Grateful to still be here living a much more balanced life. Much love yall! Great video. Yes the tools. Help but you gotta make the next step. U know, i like nicotine, i haer nicotine isolated by itseld is a nootropic cognitive enhancer, ect its just the way we gotta get it ij if nicotene is medical for you, its the added chemicals ned carcinogens that are the problems.
