Biggest mistake I ever made, was to quit smoking. I got fat. I gained 140 pounds. I struggled with diets and exercise but they don't work. I went from a slim 135 pounds to a big fat pot belly 275. That's right, I almost made it to 300. I got kicked out of the navy and lost my retirement. I developed the problems with obesity including severe sleep apnea and diabetes. I had to give up running, water skiing, scuba diving and riding my bike. When women laughed and rejected me to my face for being fat, that was it. I went back to 2 packs a day, and I've already lost about 20 pounds. I expect to have to smoke for 2 or 3 years before all my weight finally comes off. If I must choose between being a slim smoker or a fat nonsmoker, then I'll take the slim, any day.

I quit vaping in January, about 7 months ago at the time of writing this and have zero interest of going back. I was someone who would vape constantly all day. After a handful of quitting attempts, you just get tired of the cycle. Sick of feeling so dependent on it. I felt like sh-t. Go through the pain of the withdrawal for the last time, so you never have to feel it again. You can do it.

9 months smoke free. Still lethargic. 😢 I'm still waiting for that energy to come back. How much longer will i be tired before i start feeling "younger", "happier" and more "energetic"?

Yes this was me last new years Eve I rushed home bought a box of cigs and a bottle of wine. Just felt so over whelmed by family. I chose to smoke again. Time to get back on the bike now and be better armed to deal with people I find stressful to be around. Thanks for this video.

Just seeing this now. No need to apologize, Chris -- you are human, and you've gone through a tremendous amount of MASSIVE life changes. While listening to you, I resonated 💯. I would feel very much the same. So glad to see you again, and congratulations on finding your wife, Melissa. Glad she encouraged you to get back to KZread. I think it will help you with your mental health and self-care, because it is allowing you to connect and get it all out of your head. Never giving up on you, Chris! You're not alone in these struggles. You can always just make videos about what you're dealing with. Doesn't have to be about quitting smoking anymore. You have a community here who loves and supports you ❤

I quit smoking but then I got fat. I went from 135 pounds all the way up to a ponderous 275. That's right, I more than doubled my former body weight. My waist went from a 32 to a 50. I got kicked out of the navy for being obese and I lost my military retirement benefits. I developed severe sleep apnea. So I went back to 2 packs a day but you might know, I didn't lose any weight. Now today, I don't dare quit again, or I'm sure to get even fatter.

Four to eleven pounds of weight gain? Mister, that's bull manure. After 36 years of being a slim and trim 135 pounds, I quit smoking and I ballooned out to a ponderous 275. That's right, I doubled my body weight I went from a 32 waist to a 50. I got kicked out of the navy for being obese and I lost my military retirement benefits. I developed severe sleep apnea. Had I known I would have gotten fat like this, I would have never quit smoking. I'd go back to smoking, but might only make worse

I have been off all nicotine products 22 days, and I seriously feel like i have fallen off a cliff mentally since i quit. Brain fog, tension headaches, depression and insomnia. It blows my mind to think that nicotine can do this to you. I been told it takes 3 months to really clear it and the cravings out of your system. I'm just praying that my mental health starts to improve after a month. I'm determined to do this.

I read one time that more than 90% of individuals who are addicted to drugs or alcohol are also regular cigarette smokers. I am a career alcoholic. I do not smoke or do drugs. I have never been a smoker.
