Does Meditation Make You More Emotional? with Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche

When we begin a meditation practice - particularly if we are new to meditation - we can feel that we are having more thoughts and emotions than before. As Mingyur Rinpoche explains in this monthly teaching, this is actually a very good sign! By resting with our mind, it becomes clearer, and we begin to recognize thoughts and emotions more easily. As we meditate, we become more familiar with awareness beyond positive and negative thoughts and emotions; this is the practice.

Thank you so much Rinpoche. I have been going through the "up" and then "down" experiences. So i felt so hatred with myself when i couldnt be with awareness. Your teaching helps me a lot. I will try to remind myself to meditate no matter the experiences is good or bad, just aware. 🙏🙏🙏

I try my best and a lot of time I zig when I should have zag. Past bad experience in one area doesn’t mean your attitude has to change for another experience. It’s hard to tell the best way to go about things and it is frustrating. Today I relax my mind and just be.

Very educative. I love his videos. Please allow me to interrupt. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to you.

This is is such a powerful example. I get it immediately when you phrase it this way. Thank you 💖🙏💖 Excerpt from the video: The traditional example for this is if you want to walk to Lhasa from eastern Tibet. Lhasa is in central Tibet, and in the past there were no cars or airplanes so you have to walk. Tibet is a land of mountains, and there are a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes you go up, and sometimes you go down. So for the journey, up is good (you are getting closer to Lhasa), and down is also good (you are getting closer to Lhasa also). It is part of the journey to have ups and downs.

Thank you Rinpoche. I came across your videos a few years ago at my worst times in my life, and your teachings and guided meditations helped me learn to meditate and pull myself out of what at the time felt like an inescapable pit of hell. As all of us, I still have work to do and I am sure your guidance will continue to support such development in years to come. Thank you for all you do, best of luck to you 🙏

Vielen Dank🙏

I find that I’m using fears as handholds to find awareness. If I have a fear prominent in my mind, I can focus on it and gain awareness. If I am in a naturally good mood, seeking out fear automatically gives me awareness.

Hello Your holiness. Very educative.

No master would answer this with yes, even they would be realized. If someone is really realized then there is noone who is realized and noone who was unrealized before.
