Does "hang therapy" fix shoulder pain?

Credit to orthopedic surgeon, Dr. John M. Kirsch author of Shoulder Pain? The Solution & Prevention. In 90% of his patients who were due to have shoulder surgery, prescribing one movement as an alternative actually eliminated their pain altogether. This movement? The dead hang.
Try hanging for a total of 2 min daily to start. Use your feet for support at first, and ease into it.

    How should the hands be positioned during the hang? Neutral grip, supinated, or pronated?

    This has worked for people who have come to me with shoulder issues, but you’re showing an active hang and he specifies that you have to relax into the hand so that the shoulder blade can move out and up for this to work.

    Hi there. Could you explain as I feel this happens to me when I hang. Thanks

    I had significant shoulder impingement that negatively impacted my gym workouts. None of the rehab exercises I tried for my shoulder helped until I tried 'dead hangs' as shown in this video. When I started, I couldn't even manage 15-seconds with a dead hang. Now I do 150-second dead hangs three times daily as part of my regular workouts. My shoulder impingement pain disappeared. This worked well for me. It also strengthened my grip significantly. Highly recommended.

    I want to advise to my mom , she is 49 and has a pain in one shoulder since 1 and a half year. Are there risks that it makes situation worse or it is worth just trying to look if it helps.

    does deadhangs also build muscles, specifically shoulder muscles?

  • @YOGABODY.Official

    @YOGABODY.Official

    6 ай бұрын

    Yes, deadhangs can be effective for building shoulder muscles, particularly targeting the muscles around the shoulder blades and upper back. They help improve shoulder stability and strength. Remember to maintain proper form and gradually increase intensity for optimal results - YOGABODY Team

    Karen - Supraspinatus you mean right? This is the most common rotator cuff to damage. Hang daily for 30 sec x 4 but do 25% weight max with feet on the ground. Check out my other shoulder videos for I's, Y's, Ts. Keep going!
