I just found your channel from this video, and I want to say thank you SO MUCH for explaining how to interpret studies. You brought up how studies can be produced by companies, the importance of having a big enough sample size, a long enough follow-up, the difference between statistical significance, and then looking at the findings and asking yourself if they make sense. I get so annoyed when I see a sort of meme-style factoid stating "one study found that walking kills so tell all your friends to only walk backwards from now on or else you'll get cancer." Dubious! I love your video style of being succinct, entertaining and informative. Thanks for posting you guys!!

I can remember when an all American breakfast was two eggs with bacon, toast with butter, and coffee. All of those items were at one time declared ‘unhealthy’. Times change, coffee isn’t bad anymore, butter is better than margarine, eggs are actually good (depending on how they are prepped). Bacon if not burnt isn’t terrible with the advent of low carb diets. Only poor white bread is still on the outs. I have got to think that companies with vested interests executed marketing campaigns to skew the public perception.

Hi Michael. We would agree coffee is ok. Butter is not good for you. It is actually bad for you. So is bacon. And so are eggs. Sorry for the bad news. Enjoy your coffee. 😀 Thanks for watching and subscribing
@michaelmclaughlin1958

@@TalkingWithDocs I respectfully have to disagree with you about butter, bacon, and eggs. Butter is better than margarine. Bacon and eggs in moderate consumption help greatly in weight control and keeping sugar levels controlled. More and more I’m seeing credible discussions that carbohydrates are the culprit, not fat or protein. I’m also of the opinion that dietary cholesterol is much less dangerous than it once was considered. Like I said times are changing. The Adkins and Keto diets seem effective and actually can help control weight.

Hi Dr. Zalzal and Dr. Weening. I have two cups of a coffee and day and not for nothing but I need that to get started in the mornings. I never drank coffee as a young adult but started when I went from 3rd shift to 1st. I had a coffee mug that held 64 Oz and by the time noon rolled around I was finally awake. If I do not have coffee in the morning my whole day is ruined. Never liked the taste of coffee but as I got older I got used to it. All I know is if coffee doesn't kill me something else will. That is a pretty big responsibility being in charge of your own health. Lol Great commentary and analysis of the outcomes. I love the smell of coffee it taste fine my body can’t take it. Therefore I never have it. But there have been wonderful studies on the benefits of all types of teas. Thus I prefer teas.. I did however send this to somebody I know who drinks close to 10 cups of coffee a day. Withdrawals from that could be bloody hard. And chances are if they completely stopped their adrenals would fail them lol. I do however know that a certain amount of coffee a couple cups a day can definitely help people with ADHD. I would site Pinellas is on that but I don’t have it in front of me right now. Once again interesting and informative. By the way do you remember the movie with Brendan Fraser George of the jungle.?❓❓He came into the city and he got a hold of Java. He ate a lot of it. Interesting that both regular and decaf coffee have beneficial effects in preventing arrhythmias. There's a lot more than caffeine in coffee, like any other herbal extract. So while caffeine per se is something people with arrhythmias should avoid, some natural products chemist at a drug company could dig out whatever the thing is that prevents arrhythmias in decaf.

I drink on average about one cup of coffee a day. The only reason I was thinking of increasing my coffee intake is because I've heard that two plus cups a day is good for the liver and since I have had or still have (NOT SURE) fatty liver, I thought maybe I should.
