I want to offer an addition to this - Chris Rea sent Bob Mortimer a "large framed photograph of himself enjoying a bath that contained numerous poached eggs"! - I know because I've just read that exact line in Bob's autobiography (page 260!) and that's what brought me here now! :D

Bob's genius is his ability to perfectly toe that line between "too far-fetched to be true" and "so far-fetched it has to be true", like he has genuinely reached the point where it is impossible to tell if he's talking crap, an absolute legend

“So, just going back to the original occasion, Chris Rea had already run you a bath?” This is probably the best single line in the whole of WILTY. Even more so because David didn’t realise how funny it was when he was saying it. Then the glorious absurdity of it all broke over everyone like a wave.

The more Bob Mortimer videos there are, the better the world will be 😂

The imagination of Bob amazes me. They way he told how he tried to get the yolk is just brilliant detail. How does he come up with stuff like that.

Whenever Chris Rea is on the radio (which is a lot in the lead up to Christmas), I always imagine him running a bath with an egg in it.

"So Chris Rea had already run you a bath...?" is, and will forever remain, a thing that has been said ;D

If I had to choose just one Truth or Lie as my favourite, it would be this one. Bob Mortimer at his most ridiculous best, with the nice detail of the famous studio on Eel Pie Island.

Egg white is basically just protein. So it’s going to be stable at and around body temperature. The average warm bath is also at or around body temperature. So, logically, it’s not going to poach.

Bob Mortimer was made to be on WILTY. His sense of humour is so brilliantly bizarre tnay its impossible to know

I hadn't seen this one in years and I could've sworn it was true. Anything he said other than what was on the card could've effectively been a red herring. Egg whites coagulate at around 60 °C (already nuts for a bath!), but whatever he said is moot because the card talked only about cracking the egg into the bath. It was a charming visual about trying to get the yolk to settle onto his chin, but that's moot because the card talked only about cracking the egg into the bath. And it's Bob MF Mortimer!
