I played battlefront 2017 first I don’t know which I like better. In terms of HUD I like battlefront 2017, because you can turn everything off except for the redical. Sadly, you can’t turn off the kill visual.

I've played all eras of Battlefront and there's things I like and dislike about both eras. EA's Battlefronts could have had a 20-year lifespans like the originals with how good they look, but they cut off development right when EA BF 2 was starting to get good. Forgetting all the horrible microtransaction stuff that happened with both games here's some thoughts on the EA era gameplay: The OGs loading screens didn't waste your time, 1 minute you're into the action, the loading screens for EA BFs take up to 5 minutes to start playing. The high detail and more intelligent bots make some of the multi and singleplayer modes in EA BF harder to see and less fun than the originals because they can snipe you faster from any distance. The terrain on maps like Geonosis and Felucia makes vehicles so much worse in EA BF 2. EA BF 1 I spent days worth of time playing cargo and that mode made the first game, and the fact they didn't bring back such a fun game mode is just criminal when I know they have all the player data for what modes were played the most. EA BF 2 simply didn't have enough heroes and maps and the playerbase is split across too many ways with gamemodes/eras. Like seriously no Jango, no Mace Windu, no Asajj Ventress, etc etc...They could have imported the bounty hunters models in from BF1 and no one would have complained as long as we had more content. Hate the point system when picking units so much, even more than OG BF2. Also with how the points worked in modes you never get enough time playing the hero you want to play and it just doesn't shuffle them around for everyone to use if one person just holds onto it the whole game. I think with more players 3 heroes per team on timers in a 60 lobby match is fine. I do love the gun variety in EA BF 2, that is one positive. After completing all classes, playing the troopers just isn't as fun because the map gameplay loops aren't as fun as the originals, and nobody is playing 10,000 felucia maps for one hero skin. The starfighter mode is straight up busted in EA BF 2. If you're low level, I feel sorry for you, because you get crushed. Space battle terrain has AWFUL hit detection. That part of the game either needed to be cut for more ground content or more time spent on in development. Hero vs Villain mode is so busted that griefing channels exist because of it. TLDR: EA BF 2 tried to do way too much without enough time in the oven or dev support. Honestly, with how mediocre the campaign was I think I'd have taken better/more multiplayer content than all that wasted effort, but that's just my opinion anyway. I don't think it's nostalgia, the older games have their flaws for sure, but some choices they made in simplicity made the gameplay hold up better.
