🍓 HI, I'M VERONICA VICCORA
Hi there! I'm Veronica, welcome to my beginner dance journey. When I was 17, I was told by a teacher that I would never be a ballerina. I let that thought control me for YEARS but now, in my late 20s, I moved to New York City and I'm finally starting ballet late. This is a space for me to document the ups and downs of learning how to do ballet in my 20s and show anyone that it's never too late to live your dreams.

On injuries and dance: I began ballet "late" in life, ie, age 17, too late for a professional career. Back in the day that was the wisdom and though I continued to dance for 30 years from the date of that first class, it was never about becoming professional. It was about love. BUT, I would tell people, 'I'm going to pay for this one day. When I'm old, my body will probably be a mess from all of this throwing myself around." Now in my 60s I am, unbelievable, one of the minority who does NOT have a knee replacement and who still can move fast and well (sure, there are aches, but nothing a medical doctor is needed for). So I would say, even with all the jumping and throwing yourself around, dance classes teach you to do it smartly and it pays dividends well into older age. Keep dancing, everyone.

Mary Helen Bowers has inspired me to create a ballet lifestyle. Ballet home decor, ballet personal style/fashion, read ballet books, go to see ballet shows, go to see ballet movies. Healthy ballerina diet that is nourishing! If you could do a video on how to have a ballet lifestyle as an adult ballerina I would love that! Or even a video series. Mary Helen Bowers’ two books will help! X

You've said you've talked so much, but i feel like the videos go by so quickly just bc I'm so excited to hear about it. I just feel so much solidarity in these kinds of videos, i guess? These videos help me to feel so hopeful about ballet. And i can't thank you enough for sharing your experiences with us. I did ballet when I was really little and wasn't able to continue after a year or two until i was 18 and taking a beginning ballet course at community college. But i wasn't able to continue after a semester, as i got really sick and had to take a break from school and such. Now I'm close to being 21 and in better health, and i was a bit more doubtful about returning to dance, but i still had hope. And i ended up coming across one of your videos, and i felt a brighter hope about ballet than I've felt in a while. I've been feeling like a late bloomer since i was 11 and never had the opportunity to start again anyway, but seeing that someone older than me has such confidence and success only solidifies that it's not too late for me and it never was. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing with us.

Thanks for answering my question. I still have one dancer I still look up to ever since I was a young dancer. Misty Copeland has always been that dancer that made me feel seen when I didn't feel seen in the ballet world. Here I am almost 30 (in March) and she is still a dancer I admire.

Hi Veronica, I am obese but I want to be a ballerina in my own right. I’m first losing weight using Ballet Beautiful. I’ll be raw vegan soon too following fully raw Kristina’s recipes. I struggle with weight because of mental health medication. I want to be a ballet fine artist. Like a fine art muse who is a adult ballet dancer. I want to do film photography self portraits and classical painting self portraits that are ballet and Christian themed. I want to be the adult ballerina version of photographer Laura Makabresku. She does Christian photography and art. Can you do a video on ways to pursue ballet as someone in their 20’s or 30’s?

Hey Ciara I'm 43 and when I was younger in the dance company one of my best dance friends was pretty overweight but all the classes and practice really helped her loose weight while also toning up the loose skin And let me tell u if I had a video of her from back in the 90's I'd sure post it for you because she was so graceful and moved like an angel Also from all the rehearsals and obviously sweating a ton we had to stay hydrated and therefore drank a ton of water which also aided in her weightloss Good luck my luv on ur journey start now even if its at home u can go to a homedepot or store like that and get the supplies to make ur own center ballet bar for at home to practice that's what I did and can take it down very quickly for storage hope this helps a little ❤❤❤❤❤❤
