Hey look-- I'm #1 in the efficiency leader board in the video! Thanks for the walk through Ben. I walked through it with you on the video and discovered a few features I didn't know about by just playing around. Example: clicking the battery switched between miles and percent. You don't know how many times I wished it showed percent instead of miles. All this time it did if I just clicked it. I upgraded to pro earlier today and am looking forward to the web version. I liked the old web data that used to be available regarding all my supercharger stops displayed on a map, etc. Keep the app improvements coming.

Does anyone know if trips are manually adjustable or if can be added manually if there were any issues with trips recorded?

I updated to IOS 13.7 last night, unable to put the car to sleep by pressing on the green energy/mile box on the start page, sleep mode is enabled in settings, can’t find where to send TezLab this info or bug report, can you please pass it on to them. Thanks Fred San Diego, Ca.

Ben is there a way to poll the car for lifetime stats that pre-date the install of the app? I've made some changes to my car in the last few months (mainly larger wheels and a staggered fitment) and I'd like to see how things have changed from an efficiency standpoint.

I wrote this on a Now You Know episode (114 - GM EV Day | In Depth) six hours ago.... Just thinking - so Tesla can tell you how many stalls are occupied. So then they should also know the state of charge of each vehicle and give a probability of how long people will remain at chargers - as well as how many other people are heading for that charger location (in front of you in the queue as such) - etc???... that is, in the busy times - how long you should expect to wait whilst trying to distribute vehicles needing charging amongst the least used chargers. This would not be perfect but perhaps much better than it is now. This sort of information would also shows Tesla where to either build more stations, increase the number of stalls, or move in 250KW chargers...

Ben, I had another question about SC routing and trip planning. Since you are working with Tesla it would be great if you could not only see how busy a SC currently was, but also how many others were currently en route to that SC. If you knew a ton of people were on their way to that SC you could, in theory, re-route yourself to a less crowded and with fewer people destined for that SC.

Battery Health...each dot is 90% charge - I've charged to 90% once in ~1 year. What happens if you typically only charge to 80%?

Then it should show the dots at the 80% range, he charges at 90% as I do so his dots were up in the 90% line.

Does not work. I registered OK, then set my password for the app. Then tried to log in multiple times without success. When asking to reset the password it has no knowledge of the email address......

I would switch from Teslafi to Tezlab if you all had scheduling features...I mostly use teslafi to turn on my heat or AC in morning before I drive to work. Do you all plan to add this?

Great job! As a future Tesla buyer, I love the capability to tag business trips and export the info. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA is equivalent to U.S. IRS) depending on the filing scenario would also require odometer start and stop readings. It would be great if you could include this, too. Can you do a show about the software design and data algorithms for those of us who are coders? I see all you courses on data science so I think a lot of people would be interested.

How about the ability to generate a “Tesla Carfax” if I installed your app when it was new. This could show a complete battery health, supercharging amount, charging min/max habits, maximum speed driven, etc. This report could be huge for resale.

Where you show the amount of money saved, how do you compute that? Do you allow someone to configure in the setup screen (do you have one of those???) the average gas price for an area? According to AAA, prices for gas as of 3/7/20 varies greatly - Texas is $2.084/gal and Hawaii is $3.565/gal for regular. Where I live, Hawaii on the Big Island, a gallon of premium gas is $4.55/gal. I've recommended your app to a friend who just purchased a Model 3. But I know he'll ask about the gas savings computation. Thanks for your channel and I look forward to reading more about Tesla in the future. I may even eventually purchase a Tesla IF the Big Island (Kona) gets a super charger.

First of all, I would like to profess my appreciation of this channel. Secondly, I think one way this would be really useful would be for doing science on the data. If you capture things like battery health, range lost, etc. it would be very useful to Tesla and independent researchers, as in modern science the more data you have, the better. This could be an early example of "hypothesis-free science," which is predicted to rise along with smartphone use. It could be useful in developing new batteries and improving the efficiency of battery thermal management systems. Thanks so much for putting this out there!

@@trisailor3318 Not exactly. In the car you only have the details of the last two trips and a global report since you received the car. Tezlab gives you detailed information of all the trips and charging sessions since you installed the app. And you can export all this information to a .csv file. 😉

Thank-you for stressing the importance of zoomed-out view on battery health. So many apps (and people...) get that concept wrong. Also, as one of the folks who initially stopped at "enter your creds", I will now be giving this another look after watching this vid.

I have an idea for calculating charging costs. You plug at home for the first time. App notification opens new window and ask you to name charging spot. So you enter HOME, next window it ask you charging costs. So you enter 1$ in 1am-10am, and 0,5$ from 10am -1pm. Then every time you charge at this GPS location, app is calculating cost. Another time you plug into mall free charger. App pops aut and you click FREE. Now every next time you plug at this GPS, app knows its free. Pluging in Superchargers has all the price info, and app will aoutomaticly know this data. So at the and of the year you get a chart like this. You charged at home 60%, with total 500kw, at price xy.....20% for free....tou get the point. What do you think?

How about how much power/energy Tezlab (app) uses? You have to think of your car as a smart phone. Some apps have been know to have battery impacts from running in the background or location data.

There is a "money saved" feature of Teslab as well. While I enjoy it, I suspect it's making at least one assumption that I would love to be able to control. You can set gas and electricity prices, but it doesn't allow you to set a gas efficiency of the ICE car. Our previous ICE car got 14MPG. Based on the savings, I suspect it's assuming that the ICE car would get closer to 30MPG. Any chance we could customize the ICE efficiency in that calculation?

We've done extensive testing on this and found no change, we also have some additional controls available to schedule when we ping the car and an added "deep sleep" mode. Early on the model 3 had issues "falling" asleep so we added that

I have looked at Tezlab before and settled on Stats app, but there are more features here than I realised, so will look again. But one thing I notice is not available in proper formatted app for iPad. Please make ipad app available, as although the iPhone may be convenient on the road, to check the data later is better on larger screen

Hi Ben, thanks for the review. I got the app and connected my Tesla account. Under the sustainability report it says my average daily CO2 generation is +6.28Kg. However I charge my Tesla from my home 15kW solar array connected to a whole home battery bank which does not generate any CO2. Is there a way to let the app know that I am not generating any CO2 by charging my Tesla?

Would be nice if the app also displayed usable battery capacity. Displayed Rated Range is most always higher than achievable range and does not track with battery degradation. The car has kwh data that this app could use to provide battery degradation information to owners. Along the same theme, a display of real range would be useful, rather than the often unachievable/optimistic Rated Range.

So, what will you do when Tesla implements this sort of info/tech themselves?

Question: Will any history be loaded into the app, or does history start when you install?

I would love if you could add the address of the start location and end of trip from the trips page. I work in the healthcare field and can travel up to 10 locations in a single day. Being able to reference this without having to manually select each trip would save me so much time when calculating work drive time.

Been meaning to ask for some time. Is Teslab only useful in the USA or is it also applicable for Tesla drivers worldwide? Thanks. 😀 Great for all self-confessed data geeks. Not looking at anybody in particular, honest!!! 😜😋. Actually I think that for fleet owners Teslab is likely to be more useful than for your average owner. Great for overall fleet management & I think, because it's possible to check on the nitty gritty of individual vehicle performance that the rate of replacement for Fleets will lessen over time as it's possible to measure risk, i.e. likelihood of increasing maintenance costs per vehicle. Currently the turnover is automatically anywhere from 3 to 5 years, often via a lease vector due the natural wear & tear of an engine etc - largely not applicable to EV's. An EV fleet in combination with say, Teslab, should lower TCO &, I would posit, encourage outright purchase rather than the leasing model common today. Everybody's got a different perspective on leasing as opposed to outright ownership. Leasing has always struck me as an overpriced rental option. When you come to the end you've got nothing to show for your money whereas at least with ownership, you still have [in the case of a car], a valuable asset to show for your money. As business owner if you lease vehicles you constantly have cashflow heading out the door. EV TCO is much much less so why not choose outright ownership & after paying off the loan/s retain the vehicle/s for say 10 years. That's 5 to 7 years of greater profitability for your business & I think that Teslab could be a crucial component of this. It's another way in which electric transportation could make significant changes in the world other than the environment. I'd be interested to have your take on this idea, Ben, if it's one that you've considered & if so, in the future, if it's being factored into the commercialisation of Teslab?

We have an algorithm that learns the when to and when not to. We call this our "deep sleep" tech. Also you can specify a time frame "night mode" when it won't ping the car at all

When you open the app does it wake up your Tesla? Or does it let it stay asleep and let you check all the info without wasting charge?

If it's asleep it prompts you what to do, you can wake it (to check charge level and use controls) or keep it asleep and just see existing data

One of the unique features by the way, compared to other data apps. Tezlab asks you what to do you if the car is sleeping. Nicely done!

Great App! Still saving my pennies for a Tesla but will definitely get the Tezlab a go when I do.

My electric company sent me a port to hook up to my odb port. It doesn’t have that much stuff but one that I like shows how much I charged at home and how much at superchargers. So I can track my charging costs. It also shows the amount of greenhouse gas saved. It also had a battery health which estimates actual range vs rated range. My 100,000 mile model S has a 95% health rating. Yes it has some degradation but not enough to matter.

Yes he did not .. I Love the Tezlab App .. and the Pro Version looks great .. but the pricing is too steep .. $2.99/month or $29.99/Year --- $29.99 Purchase -- Not subscription would be high but acceptable..>!! I think they would do better with just the purchase..>!!

I'm not totally familiar w/ those other ones, but I'd venture a guess we have some stats they don't, use more advanced predictive modeling for certain charts, and have a growing community that is helping others by sharing information about charging etc...

Teslanomics with Ben Sullins Teslafi has almost 11,000 users, and tracks just about everything, over 150 data points polled by the minute except when the car is sleeping. Tezlab looks very nicely laid out, but the question people ask is what are you doing with that data that you provide for free? If you switch to Pro after day one year, do you get access to the data since you started the free version?

Very nice looking app. I wound up using the Stats app over Tezlab but this new version looks really well done.

You are definitely not the first to show activity of a charger. Have you not heard of fully charged? They displayed this on several apps in many of their videos.

Looks pretty well thought out, by actual users. Pity that I stills don't have a use for it :-(

So I finally downloaded this app and after a few days had no choice but to delete it. We have an S and my FIL has a 3. We have access to his car via the app in case we need to use it, but that is very rare. I could not find a way to hide his driving stats in the app and was constantly receiving notifications about his car. Super frustrating because I would have liked to utilize this app to understand how efficient our driving is and what our battery health looks like.
