Doepfer modules, and your thorough explanation of them, never cease to amaze me. I don't pretend to understand even half of all that, but I liked it.

You started with a PLL? :) What nerdy initial setup, I like!

Thank you very much! Finally I am beginning to understand what a PLL is and I can foresee a time when my eyes will not glaze over everytime I see it :)

Random voltage > A-136 > A-196 offset, with a really high frequency triangle or saw wave into the Signal In on the A-196 is a great, super tweakable source of random splutter.

This is the best explination of a PLL I have ever witnessed. Thank you 🤌

Very good explanation of this rather interesting module. I started looking for PLL modules from other manufacturers, but could only find the now discontinued "WMD Synchrodyne" and wonder why... Wouldn't this behavior basically also be emulable by mixing (pitch + (-1*pitch-CV + short envelope + little bit of randomness) on one of the used oscillators?

The difference will be the missing phase synchronisation. The PLL syncs the phases of the VCOs (when it doesn't fail), which gives a distinct audio impression. Also the glitches are different than just using noise for the cv. Actually, when you have a VCO with soft (or weak) sync, there is a PLL involved. Patching it with the extra PLL is quite nerdy, I guess thats the reason why there are so few PLL modules.

@@synthesizer83 I see your point, but I have been talking about the phase, when pitch just changed and the PLL unit tries to sync to the new pitch, since new pitch = different phase length.
