Dodge Viper GTS Evolution in Gran Turismo

Ойындар

Episode 6 of the Evolution of Cars in Gran Turismo featuring my favourite car! The Dodge Viper GTS.
Sorry bout the delay for this one. Was in the middle of the move and had a shitty April. But it's my birthday today(Edit: Whoops! This was supposed to be uploaded yesterday. That's my birthday) so I'd figure I do this one now. For now though I'm just gonna take it slow. AE86 is coming tommorow and after the next nostalgic GT car in an update (That's popular enough, like the Mitsubishi GTO or Chevrolet C5 Corvette) I'm finishing the R33 Skyline GTR and A70 Supra.
Edit: My first video to reach 100 views! Thank you!

I can absolutely understand you! When I was a child I always played gran turismo 1. The CD we got had scratches. I was able to play arcade mode, but I couldn't quite see the intro. In Arcade mode I always drove a Corvette or a Skyline. When at some point I could see the whole Gran Turismo 1 intro and then I saw this fascinating blue car with the white stripes and these cool lights, how it overtook the other cars and then drove into the camera, I was amazed. Back then I didn't know that you could unlock the Viper in Arcade mode, so I asked my big brother if they weren't in the career mode that he always played. He then bought the viper there and I was able to drive it, I was so amazed. The 1996 Dodge Viper GTS in blue with white stripes is my absolute favorite car to this day. The design, the lines, the color, the lights, the sound, the fat and beautiful bonnet and the monstrous interior inspire me to this day. I once drove in a 2002 Viper GTS in yellow with black stripes, I also have the video on my channel. It was such a great experience. I'm glad that you can finally color your car in the newer Gran Turismo parts. The first thing I always do is make a Viper GTS in blue with white stripes. But that bothers me in the last Gran Turismo parts where Viper GTS made the max rpm wrong. There, their maximum power is now always at 5000 rpm, instead of 5200 as it should be.

The 2nd gen dodge viper was always my favorite car as well, growing up on gran turismo is probably to blame. I was fortunate enough to buy a 1997 Viper GTS a few years ago and absolutely love the car. The one thing that I find funny is you mentioned the “monstrous” interior, which I thought they had as well, but it’s actually quite compact and hugs you pretty tightly. It’s absolute auto design perfection.

@@RS-uo2nd That's correct. When I was sitting in a Viper GTS back then, I found it to be quite narrow and compact, but purely visually the interior looks very monstrous. The design of the interior, together with the fat, curved hood, simply looks very powerful. Congratulations on your 1997 Dodge Viper GTS. And what color is the Viper?

Anybody correct me if I'm wrong, but that engine sound came from the Chevy Corvette GS (GT2) then the Chevy Corvette Z06 (GT3-GT4). Leave it up to Polyphony to mix up Dodge & Chevy engine notes 😆

The engine sound is completely wrong up until GT Sport. That's the first time it sounds close. Nothing against polyphony, it would have taken a ton of memory for all the engine sounds, but viper is much deeper and more distinct.

@@johnrobertson6110 The GT Sport version is '02 and this version if I remember correctly is older, 98 or 96, anyway I understand what you are saying, but when you are a child and have no criteria for anything, for me this sound fit so good with what the car represents... The same applies to the Chevrolet Corvette 427 coupe... I remember battles in splitcreen between these 2 what times... They were exceptionally fast cars within their context as well as attractive, and the sound honored them perfectly, the exacerbated power in them was perceived. One simply did not know if it was realistic or not, especially because it was a time when the internet at home was not common, but how I enjoyed it in my ignorance... When I met its real sounds, it's not the same anymore.

I have 2 Acura Integra’s, today I was in my extremely stock and clean 4 door GS-R and I had seen a 2nd gen viper with blue and white stripes. I immediately sped up next to him and gave him a thumbs up because this has always been my dream car since I’ve played GT1 with my father as a 3 or 4 year old kid(I am now 26) He immediately gave me a thumbs up and did a pull in traffic! This absolutely made my day! One day I’ll own this and a Ferrari 360. Thank you Gran Turismo for teaching me about so many cars at such a young age! I will forever love cars and so will my kids as they absolutely love cars as well!

I can see what you're coming from. Not only is the GTO very powerful when upgraded, but the handling is very easy to work around. However, I was specifically referring to the cars ability with stock power and weight, and the Viper blows the GTO out of the water with 400+ hp compared to around 300 on the GTO. Each to their own though. ^^

I imagine the blue and white only being present in GT1 is linked to the GT1 viper being the '96 model, while GT2 onwards has the '99 model

No, what is written is right. In the late '80s Chrysler had a project of a v10 engine for a never built truck, so, asked Lamborghini for an help in modifying that to obtain a sportscar engine. Shelby mainly worked with Ford, maybe the name "Viper" is a reference to "Cobra"

I just refer to it as a super sports car, similar to the Corvette Z06, Porsche 911 Turbo, Audi R8 and others. More powerful and exotic than the standard sports cars such as the Mazda MX5 Miata or Lotus Elise, but still not as expensive or luxurious as the real supercars like V12 Lambos or Mclarens.

I'm going to copy and paste this reply since I keep getting this kind of comment: I found recording GT5 and 6 footage repetitive. Let's be honest here, even though GT6 might have some slight graphical improvements, they're basically the same game. GT4 looks very different from GT3 and GT2 looks very different from GT1. So I'd rather record GT6 to reduce time rather than record both games. The HUD isn't enough to convince me. What's more, the quality of the footage for GT5 with my current way of capturing for some reason is way worse than with GT6. And besides, I'm finished with the series.
