In the diesel world of trucking the i6 is the standard with the v8 being the non traditional approach. I own three rams with cummins engine . One being a 89 w350 1st gen . The cummins engine is known by the million mile engine for a reason. It's amazing that through out its life it still uses its key core design developed and engineered in the early 80s. That's a good engine .

The I6 is not the standard, at least not originally. Inlines have proven more reliable and easier to maintain but V style was still the original.

Great video. Wish i would of seen it sooner. Bought a 2010 laramie megacab w 99k in mint condition. 3 months later DPF got clogged and needs replacement w exhaust. Would've payed more attention and got everything thoroughly checked out. In the process of repairing now. She is my dream truck

Any problem with the CGI blocks? Heard they were having issues with the bearings on the crank in the 6.7 Cummins.

I haven't heard too much about any issues - there was the recall on like 30,000 2019 and 2020 models because of rod bearing issues but it was fixed with a software update.

is it okay on a 2011 6.7 cummins to always have the exhaust/engine brake on? and do you recommend anything efficient but not crazy expensive to replace that grid heater bolt?

Looking at a 18 with under 75k, safe to say it would be a good purchase? Owned a 06 6.0 and it was a nightmare, so a little hesitant getting back into the diesel market

PK - We would assume you were taking great care of the 6.0. Don’t make your purchasing decision off of us, but we’re big fans of modern Cummins engines. We have quite a bit of content on the 6.7 Cummins on our website to assist further in your research. dieseliq.com/category/dodge-ram/cummins/6-7-cummins/

@8020Media as far as regular maintenance and not beating on it with the 6.0, yes i took good care of it. Had more shop time than i was expecting. Mainly oil and injector issues, dodged the notorious head gasket issue. I was just looking for advice/ insight on the 6.7s. I'll definitely check out the videos. Thanks

Isn’t Cummins an independent company, and not created by dodge?

  • @8020Media

G - Yes, it's an independent company, but it's in many RAM's. Not sure what you're getting at.
