Dodge Charger R/T 5.7 Hemi Daytona, Should You Buy It?

    Great video. I went to the dealership this evening looking for a V8 300 S. A White Daytona was the only 5.7 they had on the lot.. He grabbed the key and started if from inside the building. I had to control my emotion. I fell in love and hope to buy it tomorrow.

    What people don't understand when they say "Just get the 392" is that the Daytona gives you way more options over the base 392 and it will save you a lot in insurance. A 392 costs me $800 more to insure for 6 month period. That's insane. Love those seats. I don't like the decals but they come off easy.

    Yes Frenchfryne get one. It's a blast to drive. 5.7L or 6.4L either one is fun to drive, plus the extra 100hp from 6.4L do some people really need it. Me personally I don't race all the time, mostly cruise around so 390hp is good for me. Just my option

    Hi.. I came across this video and I'm glad I did! Awsome review of your car! I just brought the 392 Daytona a couple of weeks ago. I learned from your video about the 80° and 40° thing.. that's pretty awesome! I'll be starting my channel soon or early next spring. On another note I only had 535 miles on my car and a Best Buy truck hit my rear quarter panel and rear bumper on the driver's side! 😣$6,500 on estimates. I'm still waiting on their insurance company to get it fixed.. Back to the Daytona edition... for what you receive over a scat pack to me is well worth it! From the seats to the body kit to the cold air intake and so on! To me it's a practical luxury fast car! Lol I'll stop the book 😂🤣😅

    Sounds like the lease deal favors the 5.7 by about 150ish per month. Dodge is pushing better rates to move 5.7s because they are somewhat the on between car. That said its a hell of a car for 400 a month. I will look into these

    Actually the catch can is installed to catch oil that can get sucked up through the pcv the pcv system is there to limit crankcase pressures from blow by and because the pcv on most cars are on top of the valve covers they tend to suck up a Lil oil witch is fine but if blow by is excessive then you get excessive oil this is where a catch can comes in handy as it separates some of the oil from the vapors being sucked back into the intake. 🤷🏽‍♂️

  • @SkiLLy125

  • @Mark_conor

    @Mark_conor

    6 жыл бұрын

    You said sometimes the oil does not get all the way burnt up 🤷🏽‍♂️ a positive crankcase ventilation valve is on cars to do exactly what the name states, now during the combustion process theirs always a little bit of those gasses aka blow by that gets into the crank case the pcv does suck and re direct it back to be re burn yes but it's not re burning oil that would be stupid its re burning vapors. Sometimes while sucking up vapors it can suck some oil that's where the catch can catches (some)of that oil not all!

    I bought a Torred Daytona 5.7 2017 a little over a month ago and its amazing. I wish people won't go to 6.4 392 Daytona because it's not worth the extra few thousands you spend on 100 hp increase. It's plenty of power in the 5.7 engine. You can easily tune it to get way more than 100 hp. Guaranteed you will get 7/10 people looking at you while you drive. It's a flashy car that sounds amazing and drives even better. I'd buy this car again in a heart beat if I had to do it again. Totally worth it.

  • @scottieodle7606

    Bogdan3d you talk like 100 hp is nothing. That's a big difference in hp. And actually the scatpack has 110 more hp to be exact. The 392 is a lot more motor than the 5.7. I'm tired of 5.7 owners acting like there's not much difference because there is. Hp isn't cheap. A simple tune ain't going to get you but a few extra hp. You will spend several thousand dollars to gain the extra hp. There's no replacement for displacement. Put a supercharger on a scatpack and u got a hellcat.

  • @PaulNicolau

    @PaulNicolau

    6 жыл бұрын

    Scottie Odle I'm not talking down the 6.4 engine at all. The 5.7 engine is putting down a little more power than advertised from what I see people say in the forums. I agree that the 6.4 is a great engine don't get me wrong. For my needs the 6.4 is too much. If I really wanted more power I'd get a hellcat instead. Not the 6.4 cuz the consumption is not far away from the hellcat and it's not worth going for the 6.4 vs the hellcat from that point of view. But then again, you don't buy a V8 Dodge for gas consumption

    Bogdan3d the base price for a scatpack is 40,000 vs a hellcat which is 65,000. That's a big difference buddy, I don't care how u want to look at it. The scatpack is the best bang for your buck period. End if discussion

    Bogdan3d People so power hungry. I got a 16 RT. In my opinion so much more balanced than 392 or higher. Plenty power and no traction issues. Added my borla catback and kn intake super nasty. The 392 suffers from traction issues. Dodge played on the fact that folks are hooked on power. Where are you really gonna use 392 and hellcat power other than drag strip. Most folk will get tickets or worse.

    Yes, the HP is definitely significant. My concern is with the stock tires, and driving daily, it's not really practical to have anymore HP than the 370-ish and 410 lb/ft of torque is more-than-enough. You can drive the 392, but you won't be able to push it regularly on the street.

    People that know cars know that 5.7 been a beast for a long time for decades. That's basically a small block 350 for chevy. Oldsmobile used them as rocket 350 back in the 70' & 80's. My 75 Cutlass has a 5.7 obviously today the newer cars will have modifications but its still the same size. If you think 5.7 ain't enough then you dont know cars 5.7 is no small order.

    Oldschoolhiphop, I’ve owned a 77 Olds Cutlass with the 350 Rocket, & several GM 350 5.7’s from the mid 70’s..trust me the only thing they have in common with any of the 5.7 LS engines, & the gen3 5.7 Hemi is Cubic inches..other than that the GM 5.7L was watered down & highly under powered from 1972 through 1987

  • @oldschoolhiphop2275

    +Fulfilled Rogue That 75 rocket olds has punch. Maybe your talkin about the olds 350 with the blue valve covers. The rocket had the gold valve covers.

  • @hmackprotection1

    @hmackprotection1

    Oldschoolhiphop, the 350 Rocket engine blocks came in both gold & blue. The gold ones were in the late 60’s early 70’s. the only Olds 350 worth bragging about were the 1968-71 W-31’s that had good power around 330hp/360tq..the 350 rocket’s from 72-80 were awful, my 77 had maybe 170hp. I had to stroke it to 383 to get 415hp out of it. It might not sound like a big deal, but i got that CutDog when I was 19, & I was broke as hell so it took me working 2jobs to pay for everything I did to the car

  • @oldschoolhiphop2275

    @oldschoolhiphop2275

    +Fulfilled Rogue So your saying that Oldsmobile only had one 350. Thought the rocket was a different 350 motor. On the other hand it was never clear if the 2 were different or not. Most people said they were different & the rocket had a 400 crankshaft was the difference. I had two 75 cutlass supremes. One had that blue engine the other was gold. The gold had more power. The difference was the gold got out the hole much quicker than the blue one.

  • @hmackprotection1

    @hmackprotection1

    6 жыл бұрын

    Oldschoolhiphop, it’s not that they had two different 350’s, it’s the fact that pre 1971 Oldsmobile just like Mopar, & Ford all had much more powerful V8’s not just small block 350’s, but 302, 305, 318, 327, 340, etc..and much more powerful big block engines as well. Everything changed starting in 71 because of the International oil embargo, & the U.S clean air act/law required new strict smog/emission laws which meant that the engines could no longer be high compression engines that used leaded high octane fuel, so for example the 1970 SS chevell LS6 454 was 450hp/500tq! But the very next year the same 454 engine was 360hp/400tq, then by 1973 the 454 engine only had around 220hp.. Your 1975 CutDog with its stock 350 Rockets making 170hp is not in the same ballpark as a 1969 Oldsmobile Cutlass with its stock 350 Rocket making 330hp.. The only American performance V8’s that where still the truth in 1971 were the Chrysler 426 Hemi, 440 magnum, 383, & 340, & that came to an end in 72..the ONLY American performance car in 1973-74 that still had the juice was the one and only 73-74 Pontiac Trans Am SUPER DUTY 455..everything else was pathetic until 1984-87 when Buick developed the turbo V6 Grand National, & the Great 87 GNX

    martin duenez it also depends on how you are purchasing it. If you are paying cash then yes it is a no brainer. If you are financing with their special rate the 5.7 will save you a decent amount on a purchase however leasing is where the real difference in cost is which is the way I would recommend the Daytona 5.7

    I do not really know the practical difference in MPG between the two as I have not really driven the 392 that much. However I can tell you that if you want to you can get in the low to mid 20's MPG for the 5.7 if you do a mixture of city and highway. More if you mostly do highway.

    Bryan Avila if you are on a budget and want the newest designs and technology often I would recommend leasing. If you don't mind paying a little more per month and want to mod it or keep it for a while then I'd buy. I love my 345 but also wonder what I'd be like daily driving the 392 and there are definitely those times I wish I had the extra power. See if you are able to find a dealer with both the 392 and 345 editions, drive them both and see which makes the most sense for your needs. If you're in the Cleveland area let me know I can help out personally.
