    KV-1 in 1941 was such a badass. Unfortunately, inexperienced crews and few number was reason, why germans were so effective in 1941.

    KV-1s was just an upgrade to tje turret and engine, KV-85 KV-122 were made in low numbers due to the IS-2 and T-34/85

  • @VillainousMuse

    @VillainousMuse

    2 жыл бұрын

    The KV-1S was just a moderate upgrade that was mandated so the KVs could keep up with T34s. Same gun, same vehicle but some of the unnecessary armor ( like the rear and sides ) was machined off and the engine was upgraded to increase it's power-to-weight ratio. The KV85 and 122 were just gun upgrades with little to no changes and became obsolete once the IS-1 was made. Stalin was more concerned about mass producing vehicles rather than incrementally upgrading them because upgrading takes time, changing machinery takes time. It was better for the Soviet doctrine to just overwhelm by sheer volume of numbers than to upgrade a machine that wasn't likely to survive more than a couple engagements with the Germans anyways.

    I don't understand why so many historians all say the same bull crap about diesel engines being easier to start in cold weather and that diesel freeze's at a lower temperature then gasoline. I'm a mechanic and that is COMPLETELY BACKWARDS !!!!! diesel motors are in no way shape or forum easier to start then gas motors. Diesel requires additives to prevent it from gelling in cold weather and it will freeze LONG before gasoline freezes.

    German Panzer IV and Stugs with 7.5cm L43 was effective vs the KV-1 and T-34 so they rather mass T-34 since it was faster and way cheaper. So it was outdated in 1943. Also Panther and Tiger 1 was in service in that time

    This video has unusually many problems; while the narrative itself is true enough, maps , names and pictures of Finland are constantly wrong, and some expert opinions are outdated. As entertainment this is ok, but for anyone using this as a educational piece, it gives almost false information if not checked constantly, piece by piece...

    Sadly they have chosen to utilize University professors who are historians rather than actual military officers who have been trained in tactics. In addition they missed some of the most critical historical events such as the decade long effort where the Germans were developing tanks in Russia. The main battle tanks had absolutely no impact on the outcome of the war. The LV and IS tanks were only used sparingly and had no impact on the outcome of any of the battles. If anything Germany's development of the panther and tiger tanks reduced their ability to produce more useful equipment. Tactics islyn wars, not equipment! (Using proper tactics that emphasize your strength and optimize the use of available equipment it is easy to win a battle against an enemy with superior equipment (in certain areas). For the allies, the most critical equipment was naval and Air Force. The problem with the Soviet tanks was their lack of quality. They were maintenance nightmares and many had to be left ro rust with minor problems because they were too difficult to repair in the field. The experts utilized do not understand the concept of design requirements nor military tactics and as a result are evaluating the tanks utilizing the wrong set of criteria and fail to understand the proper use of tactics. Sadly, some college professors utilize faulty information as fact. This is certainly the case here. Ultimately, this video just became a Russian propaganda video rather than a documentary.

    This video has an amazing amount of fake pieces of information and lots of errors. for example, KV-1 was initially a 43t vehicle and later a bit less than 45t. While they claim it was 46t which occurred only in the latest series. Also since when staring freeze huge diesel is an easy task. Literally, everything will run faster than this. Then they are showing this 3D model of KV-2 with a gun taken out of KV1 - I mean it is an utter disaster since one is 76mm and the other is 155mm. How is T-34 better in any way than Pz III or Pz IV is a mystery for me. Even small and weak Pz IIIe with a 37mm was so precise and fast in its fire that it could even kill a T-34. While underpowered short 50mm of Pz IIIe was comparable to 76mm of T-34. And those are only a few issues of this video...

    They are also very liberal with the choice of clips for what the narrator is saying, using one tank while talking about another (e.g. they show IS-2s while talking about KV-1s in Winter War, IS-3 while they discuss IS-2, and some other tanks that are not from the KV family at all).

    Russo-Finnish war was not a disaster for Soviet, first of all, it all started after Artillery bombardment from Finnish side and second - Soviets took 11% of Finnish territory. It was a great victory, because before this war there were only 35 Kilometers from Leningrad to Finnish border, and after this war Soviets had enough of land to build fortifications on. So yes, interresting video, but it lacks historical facts and logic.

  • @crustymario1216

    Yeah in that sense it was a victory but it came with the price of about half a million men. That's a lot of soldiers lost for such a small amount of territory. So yes it was a victory for the soviets but I wouldn't consider it a great victory.
