Doctors explain supplement facts for your health | Are they WORTH it?!

When you reach for that bottle of vitamin C or fish oil pills, you might wonder how well they’ll work and if they’re safe. The first thing to ask yourself is whether you need them in the first place.
Before you take any supplements for disease prevention, it's important to know whether the potential benefits outweigh the risks. To make that conclusion, you need to look at the results of well-designed studies.
Thanks for watching!!

I'm so glad I found this channel! I'm learning so much that I was afraid to ask my doctor. This doctor is helping so many learn from the various topics that some might be embarrassed to ask a urologist. Keep the great videos coming 😊

I take a USP certified multivitamin and leave it at that. If these companies are so ethical they should submit their product to third part analysis. Consumer reports frequently analyzes supplements and they can be all over the place. They recommend USP certified supplements. Regarding herbs same deal. I don't know where that product came from and if it is as claimed.

Of what are called herbs, not counting other traditions that are either more fragmented, not so well known elsewhere, now have less of a textual tradition such as Mesoamerican, African, Yunani, or European, of what is common such as South or East Asian, perhaps it is better and recommended to as with diet, learn as much as possible oneself, read the literature, contemporary or even classical/ancient texts, etc. Numerous plants even common foods, herbs, and spices have contradictions or times when such is not recommended or should be used in varying quantity or other. As for where to source, perhaps the raw herb as dried or powdered. Organic if possible. Even then given the pollution of Asia, as with herbs, spices, and perhaps some foods such as grains or legumes/beans, there is the possibility of contamination with heavy metals, at least with herbs, what is most commonly mentioned is lead.

Perhaps a good idea for each herb to contact them and ask for heavy metal tests. E.g. I haven’t looked that much but with lead, such varies with turmeric and likely numerous other plants and organic/conventional isn’t an indicator but perhaps pollution and environmental toxics from where and when it was sourced.

OK, so being disabled and in a wheelchair... exercise isn't going to happen. Eating right... easier said than done, being diabetic AND disabled, I can't just decide to fast. I'm in an assisted living building, where all our basic needs are met. Nursing assistants give us our prescriptions every day. If I were to attempt fasting, I would have insulin on board, without food. Passing out from hypoglycemia isn't in my plans. Despite all the good intentions that apply to 'normal' people (define normal), there isn't much to be said for the rest 9f us.
