Koloon: But you...?! You're one... little... man! The Doctor: No, not a man. Not a human being. I am a complex space-time event. I am Lord President of Gallifrey. The Traveller from Beyond Time. I am the Sandman! The Oncoming Storm! I am the Ka Faraq Gatri; Destroyer of Worlds! And sometimes...only sometimes, I. Am. Your. Worst. Nightmare... I am the Doctor, and I take care of my friends.

    as long as the actor they get to play the doctor is a legit adult, there really is no such thing as TOO YOUNG. classic who showed that when the doctors went through a phase where they were getting younger. Tom Baker was younger than Pertwee, and way younger than Hartnell. then when Davison took over he was even younger, by a wide margin than usual. he was even dubbed 'the young one'. and when the fifth doctor said in castrovalva 'that's the problem with regeneration; you never know what you're going to get' - it shows how there are no real rules to regeneration and how old you can look. and in destiny of the daleks, when romana kept changing her body when she was regenerating, she showed how much a look can change not just by look, but in every way. and in truth, the journey of 9,10, and 11th doctor is similar to the aging process of 3,4, and 5th doctor. and matt definitely did do things with his acting choices and mannerisms to every now and again show his real age. and it created a lovely contrast between his doctor and twelve.

There's plenty of other moments, too, but the Time Lord Victorious just hits me slap-bang in the chest. And paired with that dangerous music... the Doctor is not someone to anger. Every other time he lets out his dark side, it burns a hole in my heart that somehow satisfies me. Thank you for this amazing arrangement.

    The Valeyard hasn't happened yet, but this shows where the Valeyard begins. The first real glimpse we see is after Tennant regenerates in the Stolen Earth, and he becomes more reckless, which properly surfaces in the Waters of Mars. The Valeyard can be created at any time in the future now. It's fair game as to when they manifest, but since the Master's started a turn towards the Doctor's perspective, perhaps the Valeyard could act as a foil for the Doctor in the future, should the Master lose much of their antagonistic attitude.

    A quote that I love, that absolutely sums up the doctor and one I wish you'd included, is from The Caves of Androzani, when Sharez Jek stares point blank at the doctor (in an amazing side on shot from the brilliant Graham Harper) and says "you have the mouth of a prattling jackanapse. But your eyes...they tell a different story". That's the clue with the doctor. Forget the mouth, that's a distraction, a diversion tactic. Look at the eyes. Look at them. They're old. Deeply, deeply old. Ancient battered wounds, tired from existence, all his suffering and existential agony just brimming beneath the surface. The eyes reveal what the mouth could never do, and sometimes, rarely, just occasionally, the rest of his being matches the age of the eyes, and you see him in his totality for the first time. And my god...do you truly see him, stood immortal to the universe in all his wonder and monstrosity.

    PiranhaTooth no I disagree, because this side of the doctor is meant to be discovered through his story, that of loss, love and fault, the madness of the universe and the beauty that drives him to commit these acts, but in turn, the torment he lives with, an empty hole that can never be filled and how he deals with it, through remorse, regret, anger and acceptance. He's entire existence is cursed and will only find true peace in death

    Epcot lp I went into doctor who at the modern age point. Id heard of it and knew a basic background... He was an alien from another world who could travel in time, had a companion and couldnt die, I knew cybermen, the master and daleks. I haven't seen many of the old series but I know it's not a requirement. New who has definitely developed the doctor's character onto an emotional level that you see why he's driven to near insanity and rage whilst the master was fully driven there. This video really helps outline the doctor but I don't know if I'd show them it to get them prepped. I think it's a shared discovery. I may be wrong. Maybe we should test it out on a new whovian That being said, I would like an older person who has seen pre 2000 doctor who to watch this if they haven't seen any of the new ones to see if they can relate him to the old

Like with the destroying the Daleks and time lord things. Yes, that was a crime, but when he blames himself for it he ignores the fact that he did it to save every other civilization.

    This is a fantastic video! It really highlights the importance of the assistant's role in drawing out the Doctor's conscience. I especially love the scene where Bill asks the Doctor for some real answers. I felt like she was the assistant the 12th Doctor had been waiting for.

    This is amazing power video! I love it! I hate wen some people say " Doctor Who is just tv show silly to much season. Why you still watching it?" ME: Doctor Who show you: Everything is so important. Every detail, Every moment. The real life hide in fantastic way. The hero who keep save the universe, he never have weapon. The weapon are for stupid and fearful people who don't have idea what they to. Like cybermans and this make suck, hey i don't need fake God, i don't care about the rules here go again i have something very importnat and this my mind and heart. Doctor Who is the life they show no mater what skin color,what sexuality pansexual, bisexual, homosexual you gonna be amazing hero!. Is 21 centyri and people have to stop make a drama about this! Love is love no mater what! She win! Peter Capaldi and his power speach anti war, he is rock star. I can't believe he don't have awards about he play The Doctor! GIVE HIM ALL FUCKING AWARDS! ALL LOVE GIVE HIM! "Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone, or because I hate someone, or because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun. God knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works because it hardly ever does.. I DO WHAT I DO BECAUSE IT'S RIGHT! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind! It's just that.. Just kind. If I run away today, good people will die. If I stand and fight, some of them might live. Maybe not many, maybe not for long. Hey, you know, maybe there's no point to any of this at all. But it's the best I can do. So I'm going to do it. And I will stand here doing it until it kills me. And you're going to die too! Some day.. And how will that be? Have you thought about it? What would you die for? Who I am is where I stand.. Where I stand is where I fall. Stand with me. These people are terrified. Maybe we can help a little. Why not, just at the end, just be kind?" - The Doctor

    While I love this, I found that recently doctor who has gotten...edgy. Like these characters constantly go on about how terrible the doctor can be, but it never really goes anywhere. What made 10 (and 11) great was that for most of it they were FUN, then got dark. Being dark from beginning to end just takes the fun out of DW

    I however have to disagree. Peter Capaldis run showed just how tormented the doctor is. It shows how much he has been dealing with and how through all of that he is still a good person. I think that while Doctor Who is fun it is also about the darkness of it too. I love Peter Capaldis preformance in this so much since he really does portray a perfect representation of how tired the doctor is.

  • @darkhorseash4337

    @darkhorseash4337

    I kind of disagree. Even with 10 he is impossibly dark, like in Family of Blood. and I think 12 works because of that. 9 through 11 never really deal with the trauma that is obvious in them (Especially in 9) and with twelve we more get to see that actual pain in him

    hbomberguy did a part about problems like this in his video about Sherlock, I'm not sure it's the edgyness that's the problem, more the fact that it never really goes anywhere, it's never resolved we're just told the doctor has a dark side repeatedly.

  • @spoopytoonsentertainment

    @spoopytoonsentertainment

    6 жыл бұрын

    I think that may just be a product of how long the series has gone on. You say they keep talking about how the doctor is dark, and they're right. But most people would point to the 7th Doctor, who was by and large the darkest. 12th and 9th were close and 11th and 10 have more emotional darkness. But a lot of the physical darkness and stuff happened in Classic Who.

    i fucking wish matt smith got the great stories like David Tennant. He was one of the best if not THE best doctors out of doctor who, with the comedy being a cover up for his true wisdom and intelligence. Imagine of he was in a story like the sound of the drums and how epic that would be.
