The maggots scared me so much as a kid, I had nightmares about them. And if I mention them while talking to someone about Dr Who, nobody remembers them. I'm glad at least a few others here do.

This was one of the truly scary Dr Who's I saw as a kid - living in Wales a few miles from the collieries. The other one was the Sea Devils - my grandparents lived in Portsmouth and we always saw those mysterious victorian forts out in the bay!

This is the only Dr Who I clearly remember as a kid, and only because it scared the crap out of me too!

Just get some of those Metebilis III spiders and wait until the maggots turn into flies. Problem... solved?

God this frightened the hell out of me as a child. It's given me an intense fear of the things ever since.

Perhaps a massive discharge of electricity would kill them.

As a 5 year old this traumatised me and I can still feel that well of 5 year old terror when I see maggots to this day. I don't know why but something in my faded memory bank tells me they ate what looked like Christmas Pudding - can anyone help me out with that?

It was a loaf made from mushrooms, the fungus turned out to be lethal to them. And it did look a lot like christmas pudding
